Default Tweaking the Equalizer on aftermarket h/u

For those with complex aftermarket head units,

I have an AVIC N3 with the ability to customize things like Q-factors and soundlevels on various frequency.

Does anyone have advice on where to put the settings for optimal performance and clarity on stock BOSE C5 speakers?

The Bose speakers are different animals altogether from traditional speakers. The 'Rules of Thumb' for traditional sound shaping do not apply.

The easiest thing I'd suggest (without getting too into the finer details of sound enhancement) is to set your AVIC eq dead flat (0 db boost/cut) with the Q factors set to the middle of their range. Put on a CD that you've listened to for years and know how you want it to sound, and start tweaking the eq to your ears. You'll quickly start to recognize what a slight boost in certain frequencies does to the sound, and your ears are the best judge of what you'd like to hear.
