On FM I get static that is in the signal on all stations even if the station is powerful and also the reception is not good as the signal fades out. Is there some type of reprogram or upgrade a dealership can do to make this factory radio better? it is the factory system but doesn't have the word BOSE on the speakers so I'm not sure if it is made by BOSE .

This is NOT normal, and no, your system isn't Bose - and even if it were it's only the amp & speakers that are Bose, not the head. Assuming you're not over the mileage the '05 is still under warranty. I would call the dealer and bitch & moan, especially if it is a constant thing. There is either a software fix, a head replacement or there could be a ground issue going on in that car - regardless, it's under warranty.

Any idea on who makes the head unit?
I did contact the dealer and they told me there is no recall/TSB or anything about stereo reception of radio stations.
They didn't even know what I was talking about regarding a software fix.

I think you need to take a different tack with them - instead of asking if there's a TSB tell them the unit is defective. If that dealer doesn't help then call another or contact Chevrolet customer service - there is a problem with your radio reception and it is a warranty issue and they should repair or replace it.
I know that the NAV unit is made by Denso but I don't know who makes the non-NAV head, sorry.
take it in and just say that the radio isnt working. this is what warranties are for and if it is a bad ground, i would want that fixed right away. dont want any kind of drain on the battery.

I think all of the above is true and you guys are correct. I just couldn't imagine a stereo system being this bad even if it is factory. This is in regards to FM reception with a strong signal there is hissing in it (static) no clear signals I thought it could be the antenna system. It certainly isn't the terrain because it happens everywhere all the time. So off it goes perhaps they might put in a new head unit by BOSE instead of this Pioneer head unit that comes with the 1SA unit.

I believe the head unit on the 1SA package is Pioneer No Navigation unit and the P/N relating to firmware disk upgrade is 15853651
Found this in the General C-6 Discussion under C-6 FAQ Pg. 1.
i think the easiest way would be to pull the center consol and just get to the headunit. it should have manufacturer labels behind it. But im not sure if its worth it at this time to go back there just to see the brand, but then again, it just might be

No I'm not really interested in finding out what brand it is I just want to get rid of the static I pick up on strong signals actually all signals then the signal will fade out. I checked the C-6 FAQ under Radio problems but most of thoses fixes are for stereos with navigation units and Mine doesn't have a navigation unit. It is the 1SA package stereo. I just want to find out the disc upgrade P/N number to fix this thing.

From all the digging you've done, it seems like there IS NOT a disc upgrade for your radio. You have something wrong in the car. Whether it's the radio itself, antenna module(there is a separate powered FM antenna module), a grounding issue, etc is for the dealer to figure out, unfortunately. You will likely have to ride them on it as this screams like something the dealer will throw their hands up over and say "we can't find anything wrong." I'd make an appointment where you can take the service manager out to the car and demonstrate the problem, even if that involves taking a ride to prove it's not location based.

At this point I concur with you 100% as this is what it logically leads me to believe of what possible problems are left.
Maybe I will also have them do that thing with the air conditioner too where you get that musty smell I believe they spray something like lysol into the vents or do something to kill that fungi in system. If I send it in might as well send it in for anything else that is bothersome or annoying and just not right.
But you have navigation right? I never heard of Siemen's brand and what's a VDO? doesn't Siemen's make cellphones?
Nope, I had the base US8 stereo with the U66 speakers.
Siemens is huge. They manufacturer a wide variety of electronic hardware.
I went to their website and checked on their mutimedia products. Guess what, the Seimens line of car audio head units is called VDO. So, I would conclude that Siemens is the OEM for our base radios anyway.

So Seimens is the head unit for the 1SA stereo and the 1SB stereo on our Corvettes? The 1SB has "BOSE" written across the speakers?
How does Seimens compare to sony, Pioneer, Alpine, Delco?

By looking at the Siemens VDO website, I would say they make some decent aftermarket heads. I doubt that GM would have the vette's base stereo performance specs. would be anywhere near that of any decent aftermarket unit.
I know the Alpine unit I installed made a big difference in sound and clarity using the base amp and speakers.
