Polk Speakers Any Good?
I finally found the speakers I want to use when I swap out my stock system. Polk 4x6 (DB460), possibly in all 4 places. I want a system that sounds a little better than the Bose, so not looking to go all out. What do you guys think?

I absolutely love Polks. Its one of the speakers I sell most at work. I run all polk db speakers in my daily driver and couldnt be happier. To me at the price point they are one of the smoothest speakers out there.

I ran 2 polk 10's, 6's and a set of their dual tweets in my C4. I found they didn't last that long playing hard rock or metal but, I pushed them to the limit with 3 seperate amps, running 600wt,200wt and 100wt respectively. Switched them out for Rockford FQ's. I like the sound better for what I listen to.

Polk is ok, BUT...
...whatever you do, do NOT use a 4x6 speaker. Irregardless of manufacturer, oblong speakers sound like crap compared to a true circle speaker.
What you should do it to put in what is called plate speakers, which would be a 4 inch speaker with a separate tweeter. Those two speakers sit on a plate that matches the OEM openings for a 4x6 speaker.
And, as with any speaker, just make sure that the speaker is properly amp'd, and it will sound good.
Here is a link to some Polk plate speakers (i have not heard these, so cannot attest to their sound quality, but rather wanted you to see what a plate speaker is):

Speaker Recommendation
The Polks are great if you're running the HU with an external amp, because they require more minimum power to drive thjem as compared to other brands. If you're just running the HU, you might want to go with Alpine's or Infinity's.
