Default Capacitor results

Apparently capacitors CAN go bad after a period of use.

I tested my original Alumapro 5farad cap by switching off fused link at the battery and the system drained the cap almost instantly even at very low volumes.

Ordered the new cap and put it in today and what a difference.
Sounds like the sub picked up 4-5 dB instantly and the rest of the system hits much tighter in the bass dept. Could just be the placebo effect with the highs, but I'd swear they are not as harsh as they used to be.

I'm not pushing a ton of power really, but its a great lesson about how much solid grounding and power delivery mean in any system.

Thankee, its much better now.

Now I'm planning to upgrade the big 3 as preventive medicine.
I still haven't gone back to bi-amping the Focals as I'm afraid I'll heat the amps up again.
Last time I did that the McIntosh got hotter than Hades and the volt meter dropped to just over 12v on the dash.

haha, greg, i want to be able to just drive the car now. No more work for a while.

Scott, yes, we do have many many in amps They are just a lot cheaper to replace than something like a 1.5-15 farad cap
