Default C6 I-POD Neucleus NC-X2i Interface nightmare

If you clicked on this thread, you know why.

The install is very easy, It plugs into the XM reciever unit, which is located under the carpet over the DRIVER's rear wheel.

That was the easy part.

The I pod started working without a problem. I was concerned about the interface not shuting off and sure enough it was true, the green light stayed on .... then I'm looking at the screen and I now have 2 presets labeled

Necleus and another was I-POD

Necleus is the manual mode (control songs thru the I-Pod) and that works, so I then pressed I-POD button and now I can control the song selection thru the head unit. The other buttons are not labeled but I figured out how to change play list and look for different songs... things are looking great now. I shut off the car and look at the interfaqce box and guess what, that is off as well..... I get back in the car and now I want to switch back to manual mode.....It's not working, I press and press and none of the on-screen buttons are working now The only buttons are working are the hard buttons on the left side of the unit..... So I hit NAV and when I try to hit " I Agree " to make the NAV work nothing..........ALL the soft touch buttons are dead

I disconnect the I-Pod harness, plug everything back to the way it was and still the soft buttons are not working, including the "EJECT" to flip the screen up....

......all of this happened last night, I didnt get a chance to go and see if the smart C6 computers have reset everything.

Got in the car today, and all the soft touch buttons are working now ........

.....so now I'm waiting for the new replacement piece and I'll start over again.....

Tech support says, the module will/should turn off 20 minutes after the car is turned off.......

to be continued

The green light does go out sometimes when you shut the car off, other times after a certain amount of time. Today was the first day, and I didnt get a chance to fugure out the shut down process.... I'm leaving the box exposed for now until I am 100% sure.

So far so good.

I did notice, once I park and get out and leave the car... the green light turns off..

If I come back to the car, turn acc on and then off, the light stays on...with or without the I-Pod plugged in.

Whats cool is that, once you pick the play list or list of songs, you can use the seek up/down.... Up once, FFW Up twice, it goes to the next song....

Where did you route the actual connector for the IPOD from the Neucleus? Do you have it set up so you can connect the IPOD from the seat...or do you have to connect it in the trunk before you get in? I'd like to have the IPOD in the console for easy access...is that possible based on the length of the connector? Thanks for the help.

On the pack of the module, there's a software version number sticker... what does it say on it?

Ok, The install is complete......

BTW, NO Tools are requiered to install and route the wires.

Pull the carpet back behind the seat and route the wire behind it.

Tuck the wire behind the center of console and tuck it towards the E-Brake.

Pull the E-Brake boot up at the corner and run the cable in to the center console, there is pleanty of gap to close the arm rest with out a problem.

You can leave the I-Pod there when the play list is selected or...

Close the arm rest and have the I-Pod hang in the center

As of the end of April, that ver was replaced by the newest version 4v56-001.

The newer version of the software may or may not fix the problems some people are having, but its worth noting.

If you contact Keith at AI he'll give you an RMA # so you can send it in and get it upgraded.

Will the new version allow you to use the nav screen to switch playlists?

I think they all allow you to do that.

all you have to do is press Preset 6 until you get to Playlist... you can also choose artist, genre, etc...

According to AI support, the new update does not fix Nav issues.
They said non-Nav units don't appear to have issues. They would
really like a C6 w/ Nav to test. Can't believe that there isn't a
C6 owner So. Cal. who can't make theirs available - I would if
I lived out west.

The first module I had, the nav buttons were controling the IPod (buttons were not labeled) and like 3 hours later, the unit went haywire(sp?) and it locked all my soft touch buttons, even when I connected everything back to stock, the soft buttons were dead. The next day the smart C6, put everything back to normal,,,,,,
