Default C5 Sub Box plans--hand sketch, AutoCAD, Pro-E

Does anybody have any C5 sub box plans they would like to share? I will be designing one soon and wondered if there were exisitng plans available for reference. I will be putting it in the center compartment, one sub. Any CAD files or drawings are appreciated.

Thanks

Default Couple of questions

Thanks Scott!!

Will the compartment cover still work as normal? Also, would you consider 1/2" or is this too light for this project? I have used the 3/4 for my truck boxes and they get pretty heavy fast. Any ideas on what this will weigh?

honestly, those arent my plans, i dont think i've looked at them in over a year either. i think they will come out to look like my box where it's not a 'stealth' but an 'overhang' box where it actually sticks up a bit.

i'm not sure about the 1/2".... does anyone know if subthump uses 1/2"? I know he uses it on the c4 box but not sure about the c5. if you do decide to go 1/2" i would probably say still use 3/4 for the top and try to brace the box a bit too. but i'm not an expert box builder.

I have built boxes using 1/2 and they are fine. I do use 3/4 tops when I'm doing so though! I have tested over 1,000 watt rms subs in the boxes made with 1/2" and they held up extremely well. Just make sure you use some good glue such as liquid nails and use a brad nailer or some screws to make sure you will have a airtight box. I know what your talking about when it comes to 3/4,lol.

i have been researching a lot over at www.caraudio.com and there is a guy there that builds boxes with just glue. he says he really pushes the boxes hard too. I'm not sure i'd totally feel confident doing this..but it's just a fyi

one thing you may want to try doing is getting some fiberglass resin and coating the inside of the box. this will make sure you have an air tight box as well as add a little structural integrity to the piece

Hey Jeremy,

Here are a set of plans that someone on the Corvette Forum created.

C5 Enclosure Plans

I can't remember who it was that created them but they look pretty good

I haven't used them yet but I plan to later this year

Have you ever tried to pull wood apart that has been adhered together with Liquid Nails?!
That stuff will stick a monkey to the moon and keep him there!

Thanks for the link, I'm joining up now.
