Default Bose Radio jumps out of the station and then comes in again on an -85

I have a problem that make me go up the wall. The radio (stock Bose)is good when receiving, but suddenly it looses the station and this hizzing noise (white noise) comes being away from the station. Then after a while it comes back again. The intervals can vary very much from days to just half an hour. When I lose a station it comes back within minute(s).
I have a suspicion that it might be the phase locked loop, but this seems as it is a known problem.
Are there anybody here who has solved this problem or at least got the diagnosis and what was repaired. I will do it myself as radios has been my profession. To send it to USA (live in Norway) will cost more than a same sort of radio.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

my 85 does the same thing. if i bash the pass side of the console it comes back (old fart who remembers when you bashed tube tv's). sometimes that will only work for a couple of minutes. i was thinking it maybe a loose antenna connection to the radio-caused by years of vibration. but i would really like to know.

as far as repair, i don't need to keep the car stock, and a poor receiver with only 4 presets is just begging to be replaced with a modern unit. one drawback is trying to fill the huge hole old gm radios leave in the dash.

frog.

If the Bose stereo unit powers up but you have no or distorted audio, no FM, some/all speakers work intermittently, or the system is dead, check, the CDM (Tuner Pre-amplifier Box.)

It can be found under the dash board on the passenger side ('90-93 in most cases) or in a rear pocket on the passenger side of the vehicle ('94 and up).

I have seen the units behind the seat submerged in water and have corrosion, also check connectors below the CDM box.

When the head unit is turned on and off you should hear a click from the relay inside the CDM box. If you have snapping and popping from some of the speakers you will have to trouble shoot to the defective amplifiers separately.

Is it a defective CDM box or Bose amplifier? You will need to swap working speakers enclosures with nonworking speakers enclosures to determine if it is the CDM box or Bose amplifiers that are defective
