Default I can't get the stereo to fit?????

I'm trying to install a Jensen VM9510in my 98. It seems like it is too long to fit where the stock stereo was. After I push it in it looks like there is still about a good inch and a half to go. Did anyone else run into this problem or am I just not doing this right? Thanks to all help in advance.

Did you remove the two metal tabs on the top of the radio support?

Did you remove the black plastic clip holding the air shute together?

In recently installed an Alpine unit in my C5 and I had to bend the metal bracket that supports the back of the radio out of the way. I did this by hand and just bent it back. It is pretty soft metal and not to hard to bend. My deck also had RCA outputs out of the back of the deck and I had to use 90 degree RCA adaptors instead of running my rca cables straight into the radio.

I just put a Kenwood HU into my '01 using one of the standard plastic mounting adapters, and I also had to bend the lower support bracket before it would fit all the way in, that seems to be how it works.

I'm not sure, but I think the mounting plates that vrumvrum makes have the new HU mounted high enough that you don't need to bend the bracket. Maybe someone with his plate can confirm this.

I have vrummvrumm's plate and trim ring the H.U. is still in the factory location so you do have to bend the bracket out of the way. I also had to remove the clip on the air duck. The alpine IVA-D310 just made it......

Yea well affording a C5 when you are 21 is an accomplishment for me. I'm 24 now and still have my baby so I'm putting in what I can afford. Besides the stereo is made by Audiovox and after comparing this model to Pioneer and all your other expensive brands, I feel this one was just as good. The picture actually even looks better than your expensive brands. Anyway, after bending the bracket, moving all the wires, and cutting my hands in the process, I found out it was the TV antenna wire is what was keeping me from getting it in the last half inch. I tightened the screws as best I could and put everything back together. Turns out everything looks good and its solid. It sticks out a little bit but is only noticable if you put your face all the up to the edges, I can live with that. Thanks for all the help.
