CD Changer relocation in a C5
Alright, this should be easier than I am making it here.
Pulled the rear trim, removed the factory Changer and want to move it to one of the smaller bins.
Is there anyway to remove the threaded rivets in the rear tub?
How do you move those to a side bin and remount the CD changer?
No access to them from behind the tail lights -
No access from below either.
Im stumped and its pretty early in the game for me.
( have a 10" sub, forum built center bin box, amp, and wiring )

best i can see - no access to the rear of whatever the threaded bolt/rivet is.
So the only answer is to cut it off at the surface, drill it out, and snap rivet it shut/sealed.

best I can learn, the stock threaded bolts stay and do not block the sub box. Now how do folks remount the CD Changer in a side bin? (looking for pics of one installed there)
Test fit my sub box tonight and believe the Frost King and carpet must come out first. Might just go carpet and remove the sound dampening material.

My car didn't come with a changer, but I did have one for a while. I put it in the passenger side bin and just wedged some foam around it to keep it from bouncing around. It never skipped and the bin lid covered the cheesy looking foam.
The threaded rivet is called a blind fastener. It works on the same principle as a pop rivet. The only way to remove them is to drill out the center. The back side of the fiberglass tub should have some metal straps that the blind fastener attaches to (hope the metal straps aren't bonded to the tub). I would drill out the blind fasteners, relocate the mounting brackets, drill new holes in the tub for the fasteners, and remount the brackets using pop rivets. In order for the pop rivets to hold the mounting brackets, there needs to be a metal strap on the back side of the tub. Otherwise, the pop rivets will pull through the fiberglass tub.
