Default Yanking the old speaker cable on an early c4?

My '86's been through enough stereos in its lifetime that the speaker connection wires are snipped so far back it's almost impossible to get my hand in there to grab 'em, much less strip them and tie on new cables for the stereo. So, I've got a few q's...

- Anyone know if the cables are taped to anything other than themselves along the way, or would it be possible to remove them without having to cut open a reel of wires taped together?

- Does anyone have a good description (and hopefully pictures as well) of where the rear speaker cables run on an '86 coupe?

Fortunately all the other cables (power, ant., etc) have plenty of length on them, so they're not an issue. I figure when I get my next stereo (I'll explain in a second) i'll run some monster speaker cable or something of equal or better quality to all the speakers as i remove the old stuff.

Just a quick background on the car's sound system.. The original Bose system wasnt in it when we got it a few years back, the previous owner had installed a decent pioneer deck that filled the whole space, and installed pioneer speakers in the four spots (doors and rear), but it looks like he took a sledgehammer to the door speaker mounts and the speakers are barely hangin on by two screws each (but hey, at least he PUT four screws in there!). About a year ago i installed a sony XAV-7W receiver w/ flip-out screen and a 10-disc cd changer... ended up not being happy with that (should have known, second time i bought sony stereo equipment and it was pure crapola).. so i put the pioneer back in.. about a month ago the pioneer started acting up and just turning itself off randomly (all cables and connections were good)... so just last night I borrowed the Jensen stereo out of my friend's Ford Taurus SHO and bolted that in, made sure it worked, and i'm happy for the moment.

generally speaking those wires will be taped up with others i woudl just leave em or cut em further back, and run all new wireing, its not that hard. and monster cable isnt a necesity any decent speaker wire would be more then enough, if you are not running an amp 16 or 18ga would surfice

I agree, I wouldn't worry about yanking the wire, just run some wire yourself.
