How many farads do I need?

In the future I plan on adding a new HU and a 3 way MB Quart Setup to my doors and 3 10w6's with JL's 1000/1 amp. A 300/4 will power my components.

A salesmean at Tweeter told me that I would need a 5 Farad cap for this set up? Is this true..5 Farads seem like alot.

Rule of thumb is 1 farad per 1000 watts. Unless this is already covered I would upgrade your factory under hood wires, battery and then possibly alternator before messing with a cap. Unless you are doing a trick custom install you can always add the cap later.

Too much is better than to little...I'm using 15 farads in two of my cars, both run about 2000 watts rms.
