Default Would this work...Check this out!!!

I plan on changing out the whole system as I have read is the best thing to do for real quality sound.

New HU indash 7" monitor flip out. I plan on adding a sub L715 (because I already have this sub and amp sitting in my den) MTX 1501D. Changing the rear 5.25's out, and the 3.5 to be powered by a mtx 400.4 (which I already have as well).

This is what i need advice/opinions on:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=14994&rd=1

Do you think something like these would be good in the stock 8" place as they are three ways and I would still be keeping the 3.5's too? I would also power these off the mtx 400.4 amp.

The idea of a 3-way 8"!!!
I thought that this might be a good way to go since I could just mount them and go. What you guys think.

Oh Yeah; since I am going to be putting the highs and mids on a single four channel amp, do I need 4 or 8 ohms or what order?

Thanks.

Interesting. Not sure how it would sound. If you put them parallel with the 4 ohm 3 1/2"'s, you will stay at 4 ohms, so the amp won't mind. The speakers might mind, though. Most people replace the 8" Bose speakers with 6 1/2" speakers. That is my plan when Sony gets around to releasing their new DVD player. Hope it helps some.

Welcome to the best forum on the web
they will fit but chances are they will not sound good in your doors. Why you ask....read up on off-axis response. Chuck the 3.5" and go with a 2-way or 3-way componet set. It is easy to build a speaker plate or just get one from forum member VrumVrum

Ya, I read up on the post about the components 2 and 3's, but why do you say that this would not sound good... If you had a good quality 8" 3-way why would it not sound quite good for mid and high range reasons only. Not trying to reproduce hard bass would allow the speaker to create proper mid sound dont you think.

I have heard the rave reviews about the brackets from vrum vrum but have yet to see a price. So I was just looking at what the 3.5 and the 8's above would cost and they could just be put in and role.

I do appreciate the opinion so feel free to tell me more. Has anyone tried something like this that can prove this as a bad move.

thanks Tenxo

Why I stated what I did is this. The link you gave are to home designed drivers. The sound from them is meant to be heard directly. Speakers mounted in your doors fire straight into your legs. Car speakers are designed to have a better frequency response off-axis. There is a definite difference in the way speakers are made.
Another small problem is these home drivers are 8 ohm. I.e. if you car amp is putting out 100 watts at 4 ohms, it will only put out 50 watts into the 8 ohms. That is not necessarly a bad thing (amp will stay cooler, last longer) I thought you might want to take that into consideration though.

Sorry, I have no ideas on VrumVrum's prices. Give him a PM, he'll let you know.
Best of luck to ya

Hey no Prob. mentioned...I understood about the ohm thing I did not mean exactly those speakers but just something like them for the car though, there was a ebay link to a set made by JBL that were designed for cars. I understand the ohm thing but did not know that speakers would not play properly because of location but that you would be able to tell the difference in the sound in different locations. In other words I dont think car or ceiling speakers is really the issue but the original quality of the speaker you use...

Ya I see that no one releases what the vrumvrum kit cost. Wow!

Thanks for talking with me.
