Anything!!!!! Seriously, I am runny Dynaudio and they are awesome, but you will have to redo the whole system to get good sound.

What they said You need to yank the HU and all the speakers but save them for whomever buys your car if you decide to sell it. I replaced everything in mine with a DVD HU and all JL Audio speakers, subs and amps.

Try posting in the Audio section...there are many technogeeks who have simply awesome systems. I'm sure they would have some good suggestions that may not get covered here.

Focal speakers are pretty good, but you'll need to run an amp to them. Those bose have built in amps.

I just replaced the 3.5’s in my doors and they do sound better. Only the 8 in subs in the doors have amps, the 3.5’s and rear speakers can be directly replaced.

I used the infinity reference 3.5 inch speakers, got them close-out for <$40.

I have a 10 in sub on order and stealth enclosure, not sure when I’ll find time to put it in.

Check out the audio forum, there is a C5 overview thread that has some info in it. Just wish the people there were a little more helpful to those of us who haven’t looked into the subject in a few years…

I'm pretty happy so far with just the 3.5's replaced. I do notice the lack of bass more now, but the sub should fix that

MY $.02 I'm running polk audio in rear and alpine Type r in doors. The rear was a problem took several try's to get something without hurting my ears, The rear speakers pointing directly at you head.
With a amplifier behind the speakers they high's in rear are too bright almost ear piercing.
I also installed a JL 10w3 sub in back and a KICKER 550.3 AMP. My whole system is running at 2 ohms total wattage about 750 watts rms.
Look before you leap find a good shop who will make you happy.

I'm sorry, some of you guys are just plain giving this guy some incorrect advice.

The 3.5" fronts and rear speakers are powered by the HU, not pre-amped. They can be replaced with aftermarket speakers while you keep the Bose HU and Bose 8" front woofers. That is the cheapest upgrade to do. Infinity and Alpine seems to be a popular choice for quality low price speakers.
Of coarse, to get much better sound is to replace the HU, put 3-way componets in doors, a 4-channel amp, and a single sub.
Best of luck to ya

Wood strips glued under the carpet to the tub, then the amprack screwed to the strips. So far so good.
