help me find the best amp....
OK I am buying 2 idmax12's and i want to push about 2000 rms between them. I was thinking about the Earthquake PHD5000W It would supply all the power i need except i want NO distortion. Under 2 ohms the PHD produces some distortion. Is there any mono amps that i could use that would complement the IDmax's? Within a resonable price of course otherwise id use a Crown Macro Tech 5000VZ ($$$$3500+)

Unlike higher frequencies, us humans have a much harder time hearing distortion below 100 Hz. From what I've read over the years, most of us can't detect anything below 10% THD It drops to .1% THD at the higher frequencies.
Bottom line, the IDMAX sub are great subs and between two of them and that 3000 watts rms, your ears (and colon ) will hurt before you ever hear any distortion.

The JL1000/1 has good numbers. .05% THD and SN of 95dB. But it is power hungry and expensive.
I'd look into a PPI DCX1500.1. Its 1 ohm stable and will make over 1500 watts.
Or the Phoenix Gold Titanium 1200.1 is another good choice.

I have a 3 yr old PPI (4x125) and that thing rocks hard and clean. It is pretty power efficient and I'd put it up against anything rated at nearly twice it's power.
