Default C6 Vert Audio Upgrade....Help!

Anyone have suggestions for me? I want to upgrade but keep the existing head unit (nav, xm). I'd like upgrade all the speakers, but think I may need a better amp. I'm not exactly sure if the amp, which I understand is in the footwell on the passanger side, supplies all of the existing speakers.

Also, I think I'd like to put in a small subwoofer. Trouble is there isn't much space in the vert. I'm wondering if I should construct some kind of box to fill the space next to the waterfall on one or both sides and put a sub and/or amp in there. The amp may fit under the power top as well.

Finally, maybe I should skip the sub and instead just put a custom box in the same location, next to the waterfall, with some kicking 6x9s. If I do this, maybe I won't even need a sub.

Comments?

Oh, one more thing.....I just went to a stereo store and the guy told me that because I have a Bose unit, I can't change the amps or speakers. He said Bose uses 1.5 Ohm speakers, whereas all other speakers are 4 or 8 Ohms or something like that. Says I'll blow the head unit. True?

Still nothing, huh?

I just heard about JL Audio making a custom sub for a C5 that fits in a storage bin. Wondering if the same is coming out for a C6.

I just read a few C6 stereo posts over on the C6 general topics that may get you started. KC

Yes, JL is currently in the process of making a C6 stealth box to fit a single 10" sub.

Stay away from that installer, he is living in the C4 years. You will need to buy a special adaptor since the HU wilth the nav unit is tied into the cars computers system. I've read that adaptor can be about $300
A single sub will do a MUCH better job than any 6X9s will do. IMO, just get a 4 channel amp, one 10 in sub, and some kick-ass front speakers. I like JL for a suband amp, Focal speakers up front. If you really need back speakers, just keep them factory and turn the fadar control mostly to the front.
Lastly, be picky when it comes to an installer. You have a great car, pay a few extra bucks for a quality job is definitely worth it.
