Default Any high output alternators made for the C5?

I'm looking to buy a higher output alternator for my car, and am having a hard time. Does anyone know a good make that's available? I've heard of Irragi, but can't seem to locate his website. Any help would be more than appreciated!

i believe that the best way to get a higher output alt. is to rebuild a stock one. I guess we'll wait for eatrice to chime in on this one to be sure

From my understanding the stock one is not rebuildable. I have guy that builds custom alternators. I have two of them and DIYNoob has one also. They are not cheap but they make over 240 amps and plug into the factory alternator harness. I have talked to people all over the country and till this day his alternator is the only one I have psoitive confirmation on that works properly in the C5. I have a spare that I will most likely sell or can get you in contact with him for a new one. PM me for details.

Sounds great! lol, but now for the next dilemma: is it exactly the same casting? I've got an eight rib pully (from the supercharger) and not only that, I've got the early style rear bracket that bolts to the back of the alternator in two locations (the tension of the eight rib belt bends the newer style brackets). So, the output of this alternator sounds good, as long as it fits just like the original part

Billy....I will have to check. My alternator bolts directly into factory location and has a 8 rib belt on it....my car has a F1R on it. I am almost positive mine does not have the loaction for the mounting bracket. I will find out for you soon though. My car is not here to look at but I will be going to it's location tomorrow or Sat.

I have purchased a Iraggi altenator off Don. It is a 220 amp for my S-15 Jimmy. The sob is huge compared to the stock one but he included a bracket with the altenator so it would still use the same spot and belt. I've yet to confirm it's actual output ( my multimeter only will hanle 10 amps ) but will do at my friends shop soon.
IMO, the stock C5 altenator is a great OEM altenator. I'm running nearly 2,000 watts rms and have zero problems.
I do plan on using EatRice's friend to upgrade my red Talon altenator.
Randy, please e-mail me that guy's phone number again.

I had Ohio Generator build one for me. It is able to put out 200amps at idle if needed. $950 USD... Ouch!

As stated above, the current alternator which is a Valeo cannot be rebuilt. I had to go with a Delco CS 144 (I think that's what it was) and had it built to put out a little over 200 amps. I did have to buy a different bracket from Alternatorparts.com. I just went to my local Alternator rebuilder and had them build me one.
