Replacing the BOSE

I have a 1990 with the Bose Gold series stereo in it that I want to replace with an aftermarket CD DVD system. I have been told that the ignition runs thru the Bose system and will keep the car from running right or at all. Any truth to this or can I just use one of the aftermarket harnesses that say they are for this application?

Oh, and the bose has nothing to do with the car running... whomever told you that is on crack.

i just put an aftermarket in my 84, first i tried to wire it correctly, and what transformed is when i hooked it up, the drivers front speaker, and passengers rear speaker was the only speakers working, so what i had to do was disconnect the amps from the speakers, and you have to run your own wiring to the speakers
