Default Need help! No sound from 85 Bose...

Hi - Just picked up my new toy - 85 Coupe. Drove it home 400 miles and the stereo worked great the whole way - no hissing or poppong or anything else like I read on here - perfect - almost went deaf... Pulled it into the garage and went to bed.

Next day - no sound. The radio comes on and seeks, etc. - and the antennae goes up and down, but there is absolutely no sound. Checked the radio fuse and the clk/ctsy fuse and they are both OK and pulling either one of them will turn the radio totally off - so that's not it...

I did some reading up on here and seems to me that all signs point to the relay behind the dash being bad. I picked up a new one at lunch and am going to try that tonight. There was some mention of the radio being powered by three fuses, but I only found those two that were related to it and they are OK.

So - question is - does anyone out there agree with the bad relay theory based on previous experience? Also - anything else I should be looking at? Thanks - your help is appreciated!

Yeah, sounds like a bad amp relay. This relay powers on the amplifiers. I don't know if there's one or two.

i think its time for an upgrade

barely had mine a week, and already upgraded the stereo deck, had to disconnetc the amps from the speakers, and had to run my own wiring. it was a pain in the arse, but its worth it
