I have used the 500/5 in one of my other vehicles but not my vette. Excellent amp, I would mount it behind the seats between the two rear speakers.

This is the amp 500/5 that I am having installed, glad you give it a thumbs up. I tentatively told them to mount it in the rear of the cargo area vertically. Measured to be just the right fit. Any down side to putting it there?

thats where I was thinking of mounting it.

EatRice....I am looking to keep as much of the original space as possible, so I would guess that vertically is better than horizontally.

that is one of the best looking locations if you have a coupe... that being said the one down side to it is that amps are usually designed with a big heatsink on the top of the amp when you mount it vertically you reduce the effectiveness of the heatsink. There have been tons of members that have mounted amps in that location w/o a problem but just be aware of this if you are overdriving that amp (which you probably wont).

the RF 800.2 that i had a few years ago said to mount it vertically if you have a problem overheating as the heatsink is the most effective that way
