Default 01 CD Changer Questions... Please Help......

I am buying a CD changer from a 2001 Coupe that I've been told has barely been used. I have a 2001 coupe as well. The guy just unplugged his CD changer from the wireing plug in his coupe.

Questions: I

1. Do I ALREADY Have the wiring harness that just plugs into the changer? Or, do I have to buy that seperately?

2. If I POSSIBLY Have this. How do I look for it in My Trunk Area?
(I looked a little and didn't see anything)

2. He has the long wire (from the radio to the cd changer) that he unplugged to get the changer out. He said he still has that cable, but that might be a lot of work for him to get oout?

IS IT HARD for HIM TO GET THAT CABLE out to send it to me with the changer? What does he need to do?

3. He likley has the mounting brackets still in his trunk area, should I ghet him to send that to me as well?

4. Anything else I should know in terms of installation and compatability?

Thanks in advance for your help on this guys.

I appreciate it!

Gary

1. You most likely do NOT have the cable installed. You can get one from forum vendor Tuan Lee here

2. It would probably be sitting in the bottom of your center tub. To be sure you could pull up the carpet and check for a thick cable in the wire 'clips' above the rear passenger wheel well than runs to the tubs. It's easy to install one, but if GM decided to clamp it down in a place hard to get your fingers on it might get tricky to remove.

3. If he can remove the brackets it would be good to have them. My car didn't come with a changer, but when I got one I put in in the passenger side small tub and just wedged it in with some foam.

4. A good DIY tech tip. It should be an easy "plug-n-play" install.

If you get your changer in the mail and it won't physically load the CD's from the cartridge into the changer I can explain how to possibly fix it. There is a 'pin' that goes in a 'tab' inside these changers that likes to pop out when UPS drops the box.
