I've been trying to read as much as possible about the Bose system, signal processor, door subs, etc. as I can. I have a Pioneer 8400mp HU that I would definitely want to install when I get a C5. From what I've read, the soundgate adapter seems to be the way to go. I was also told by Soundgate Tech that when the adapter is used, the Bose signal processor is bypassed and filtering is done via the built-in cross-overs in their adapter. They said that there is a HPF for the 3 1/2's and a LPF for the subs in the doors. Does this leave the rears at full range?? I guess what I'm really after are these questions:
1.) What are your impressions of the adapter? Does it prove to be a decent route to take if you don't want to rip out the whole bose system??
2.) Does it by-pass the BSP??
3.) Are the rear spkrs at full range when the adapter is used??
I didn't like it and removed it from my system. I found out after the fact that peripheal (spelling?) makes a better 100% plug and play adapter. Can anyone verify?
Location: Alhambra Calismognazifornia, in the country everyone comes just to complain but won't go back home!
i can't confirm performance as i haven't installed mine yet but...
- yes, the soundgate does bypass the BSP
- yes, the rears are at full range (i installed infinity 2-ways there and use my HU HPF to block out below 75Hz)
- i'm not sure if it filters the front 3.5's or not but it does have a LPF that sends the lows to the door subs and it has gain control for them
a friend of mine used it and he's very happy with his. i have heard MOST people say they were happy with it but have seen a couple here and there say they didn't like it. The only other adapters i was aware of are by PIE and Metra. I tried the Metra and it sux, zero bass to door woofers. I hear the PIE is the same. I have no clue who/what this other brand is.
I have a soundgate installed. It sounds OK. Can't really tell if the BSP is being by-passed or what. My subs cut out once it gets warm outside, but I don't think that's related to the soundgate adapter.
