Well I'm really messed over with my kickpanels, I had someone who was going to take a set of kickpanels and modify them to fit my doors on my 85 vette, but he decided to quit the project (I won't mention his name). But anyhow, I have a set of Dynaudio components--and I've changed my mind on how I want the setup. I want to just put the mids in the doors and the 3.5" tweeters in the dash. So heres what I need!!! speaker plates to mount my tweeters in the dash areas, and I need a set of speaker chambers built (figerglass) doesn't need to be painted or primered....they will mount inside the door panel, I guess it would consist of a round wood ring followed by another solid ring and then fiberglass wrapped it--I want it sound proof, I don't want water dripping over the back of speaker for any reason (on inside of door panel) and the speaker will just mount flush on inside doorpanel screwed onto the chamber (which is on the opposite side of panel) Call me for details or email me at 352 279 2047 or chillcat34433@yahoo.com I need these asap!!! I'm already behind on this project because of this guy who backed---very dissapointed with him. Someone please help!! I can do the easy job myself, but I have no time on my hands--Nor do I have the car, its in the performance shop and I have to run my car to the local audio shop right after the engine install, I have to have this car done asap for a show...thanks guys, pay is negotiable--not a big job into these at all if you know fiberglass and cutting wood...Johnathan
ps..I believe the mids are 6.5" and tweeter are either 3" or 3.5"---I will get the exact deminsions soon as I have someone interested...
We talked about doing this a while ago. To be totally honest with you. This job needs to be done with the car on hand. If you are taking it to an audio shop how come they won't do it then? If you really want a good product that looks awesome let me know. But the car will have to come here. Good luck to you.
yes I remembered speaking with you....I JUST SPOKE WITH INSTALLER AND HE'S GOING TO MAKE THESE PODS FOR ME...I was afraid it was going to take him awhile to do it, but he said he'd be quick....
Here is a picture of one of the enclosures I built for my '87. I built it to fit an Infinity 6002si.
I have not finsihed the install, the boxes are in the doors, the headunit in the dash, the wires ran, but the amp isnt mounted yet, so I dont know how they will sound yet.

That is some damn good glass work. They look like you pulled them from a mold?
Thanks for the compliment!
I have a small woodshop in the back yard and built a set of molds for the boxes. I can tell you that it was far easier for a part time woodworker to build a mold set, then to lay up the glass,LOL
I hadn't layed up fiberglass since high school, which is many many years ago, so I really had no true experiance with the ins and outs of the process. I learned a bit doing this project, and learned I need more practice to get fast at it.
I built the boxes using 3 oz cloth, then 3 oz mat, then 3 oz cloth, laminating it with polyester finishing resin.
I would use laminating resin if I did this again, as that would increase the time between layers without the need for sanding.
AND I would gel coat my molds so I could get a better release.
After epoxying the two halves together I covers the exterior with "Dyna mat" clone deadner.
Hopefully they will work well once I get this project finished and get to turn it on.
They do look good. Why did you mix cloth and mat? I used to use alot of cloth but hardly ever anymore. I use a polyester resin that does not require sanding inbetween coats. There is a technical name for it but I do not recall it.
You ever need some pointers let me know. I use too much fiberglass...lol. Just bought 10 gallons on Friday.
Those do look really good. I think they are going to work very well for you.
I used the cloth for strength, mat for filler. Most likely way overbuilt for what its purpose is. But just incase some arse runs into the side of my car I'll have that extra bit of side impact protection,LOL.
You must be using laminating resin, it does not have the wax in it so you can build layer upon layer. I was to cheap to buy it for this little project. I didnt want to spend the extra $10 a gallon for it when I didnt know if the end product was headed for the garbage can or would be ususable!
