Default Power antenna hookup 1988 coupe

The headunit I bought doesn't have a dedicated power antenna lead on the harness. It only has a remote turn on lead for an amp.

Can I use this to get the antenna up and turn on the amp?

bueller?

better yet, here's another question. Does the power antenna require constant power to remain upright? or is it just a momentary pulse that starts the antenna up?

It needs constant viagra, i mean power to keep it up
I used a toggle to control my antenna when i had a FM modulated 6 disc changer hooked up to the bose. I am still going to use it with my new setup. I find i didn't even need the antenna up to get good radio reception.
As for using the remote lead, i don't see a problem.

After doing more searching this afternoon, I'm just going to put in a switch. I found a micro-toggle in my bottomless box of parts, so I'll just wire it up tomorrow when I get ready to install the headunit.

Ran all the wires today for the amp and speakers. I didin't think it was going to take as much wire in the c4 as it did, used close to 40ft.

Tomorrow I get to mount the amp, finish installing the interior and get started on the baffles for the speakers. Hopefully I'll get all that done and the front baffles in, so I can put the door back together before I forget where everything goes.

Was looking over my head unit info and it says that the amp remote output not to exceed .3 amps. Not sure what the coil in the antenna relay draws but it may exceed that. The switch is surely the safest way.
