Default Is there a way to tell difference between red/black RCA's?

I have RCA wires going from my head unit to an amp powering my component speakers. The RCA wires are not labeled in the typical black/red colors at the end of the wires on the connectors. Is there an easy way to determine which one goes where without pulling the entire cable out of the car to see?

If not, you can get one fairly inexpensively from Radio Shack.

why dont you just hook it up to the amp and use your fade and balance controls to figure out what goes where?

I agree, plug it in, if its wrong, switch em around. No need for any kind of complicated testing.

One of the wires should have a mark on it. A stripe or a raised ridge?? Just check both ends for the wire with this marking and you know they are one in the same.

Default test

fade your radio to the left plug in one rca cable to the left channel on you head unit plug one into the left channel of your amp when your left speaker works you got it right
reverse the patch cable if it is playing the right side
that should do it
for future reference if you continue to use these patch cables mark one side so you dont have to do this again in the future
sometimes organization separates a good system from a great system
