Default JL Audio XR653-CS?

After reading this section for a month or so I have decided to gut my C5 and start over. I am in the process of gathering components. I am getting a subthump box, I have a MTX 7510-44 DVC sub and a MTX Thunder 895 amp. I plan on adding one of the new Alpine headunits and the JL 3 piece for my front stage with no rears. I was reading the manual for the 653's off JL's site and they said don't mount the 4" and the 6.5" in the same space and don't mount the tweet more than 4" from the 4" speaker. I know every setup I have seen in a C5 has ignored both or these mounting tips. Is there a problem with putting the 6.5" and 4" in the door and the tweet inside the door handle? Does it degrade the sound?

I don't know much about MTX amps... what I do is that I don't like them very much.

The idea about not wanting to run the 6" and 4" together is because the 6" could move enough air to disturb the 4", beyond that, I have no idea. I would mount all three into the door space and leave it at that. There is more then enough room to do this on a nice big baffle.

Bogus is right. It is because the 6.5 is a midbass and the 4" is a midrange. The 6.5" could create pressure in the door to cause the 4" to distort. Even running some of those cheap parts store foam baffles behind your 4's should be all you need to remedy the problem. I run the 3 way XR's myself in my C4. They are an excellent choice!

The JLXR653's are a great choice. I've installed them in a C5 running from a JL300/2. The midbass is very strong and, unlike the JL 2-ways, the midrange is very full. I mounted the tweets in the doorpull, but up in the door panel would have raised the stage just a bit, but it still sounded very good. Don't put the tweet inside the door, its too low an will be blocked by the door panel. The C5 door is cavernous inside, there is enough airspace to even worry about the 6.5 affecting the 4". A baffle is a bad idea. These components are designed for IB applications.
