Default 90-96 radio/CD player interchangability? Parts source?

[font=Arial Black][color=Red] I see some guys selling a used radio/CD/cassette from a early 90's car and saying it only fits 95-96, for example. They reply that the "Hollanger" book says that. I see Ecklers and the like selling radios that fit 90-96! what gives?
I need one for a 93. Which years fit?
Also, does anyone know where I can buy parts to fix my old one rather than exchange for a rebuilt. We can rebuild ourselves, we just need a main drive cog for the CD.
Thanking you in advance.

The radios are interchangable, the color of the lettering is different. I think through '94 they are orange. Dr Dons repairs the bose head units, you may try them for parts:

I think all these radios have reliability problems and it is better to have one fixed than try to buy a used one. Apparantly, the electrolytic capacitors go bad. If the cd player is bad, it is the head unit. If the radio won't work and the antenna is ok, it is the separate radio unit under the glove box that needs repair. It is also likely that all of the amplifiers at the speakers will eventually go bad. I have done business with Dr. Dons and have been satisfied.

It is for all those reasons, plus the fact I hate the sound of the blose, that I went aftermarket.

I replaced my rear amps (thanks to Dr Don's) and now my OEM system rocks just fine. It was much cheaper than aftermarket and it looks better.

`90 - `96 has three different factory stereos available.

standard - AM/FM cassette
optional - AM/FM cassette Gold (200 watt)
optional - AM/FM CD & cassette Gold (200 watt)

The difference between the years is just the color combos of the stereo faces.

90 & 91 - gray with tangerine lettering
92 & 93 - black with yellow lettering
94-96 - black with white lettering

From what I have figured, the bose head will work with the base stereo.
