Default Battery needed, what's the best?

Is the Optima still they way to go, or is there something better out there? If Optima, yellow or red?

Stinger maybe?

about the same price as Optima, but can get pricey just as Optima can for the high end models.

Or, Rockford Fosgate :

Or, Lightning Audio :

Hmmm, strange how the Lightning and the Fosgate are the same..I WONDER WHY?!? (same company. Rockford's part time hobby is gobbling up its competition) Maybe I should just buy one of these batteries and slap a "SNOOP AUDIO" sticker on it!

Varitey's a bitch eh?

Really, any of thse are great, and overacheivers for the most part, when compaired to the crap you can buy locally at wally world, sears, or Vatozone.

Go with the Optima Yellow Top. You can purchase one at any local Auto Zone. Local purchases are always more convenient in case you need to make a return. Plus, they have both top and side mounts. You will need the side mounts for your stock electrical connections, which leaves you the top mounts for your aftermarket goodies.

Optima yellow if you have a lot of stereo or drain on your car. Red will work for most other applications. Check Optima's website for a list of what model will fit your car. I found the cheapest price for me was Remy battery off Ebay. I hear Costco has good prices also.

Has anybody told Optima that the top posts are a PITA for our C4s? I just hate fabricating a $100 plus battery.

i have used optima yellow tops in many different vehicles and never had a problem or a dead battery and my previous system in my Bronco had around 3000 watts RMS with all amps (2 JBL 1200.1s, RF 800.2)

Battery Model: D75/25
Part Number: 8042-218
Group Size: BCI: 75/25
Length: 9.313”, 236.5 mm
Width: 6.813”, 171.5 mm
Height: 7.625”, 196.9 mm (height at the top of the terminals)
Weight: 37.8 lb., 17.2 kg
Terminal Configuration: SAE / BCI automotive and GM style side terminal (3/8 – 16 UNC – 2B, threaded

Ok, I read the link and it said this is sort of new battery offered by Optima, I doubt this is true - ebay advertisers are so ghey. Anyways, I went outside to my 86 and here is the dimensions, respectfully -

Length : 9 3/4"
Width : 6 1/2"
Height : 7 1/2"
(all rough numbers, but close, I was shivering outside)

So it looks like this battery will fit a C4 just as well as a C5. But since Yellohh is a C6 owner, it doesnt really matter what I say, and its pointless to suggest a cheaper place to purchase it from either. But for what its worth, buying it off of ebay is problematic on batteries.. Its way harder to mess with RMA's over the internet than with your local yocal Vatozone or O'riley.

I purchased an Optima yellow D750U and BatteryMINDer from batteryweb.com. Very fast quality service and price was the lowest anywhere at the time. It was cheaper to buy the battery with shipping charges than it was to buy it in town and pay sales tax.
They have every Optima there is and other quality brands as well.
