Car overheating issues on track.
Could you describe what occurred to the car that the media ran at road atlanta back in November 2014. It seems several magazines have quoted having the over heating issue but no one clarified if it was the trans or the engine oil. I know from my personal experience that my car did get pretty warm on a cold 40 degree day there a few weeks back. I and many people are concerned we will see issues come this summer without mods.
Please fell free to change the wording of the question but surely you get the drift of what I am trying to ask. What should we track people be looking out for as far as temps are concerned?

Seems the latest MT comparo with the 650s and GT-R also references power being pulled quickly on track due to temps,
Thus, I would second the first poster's question.

I'm in no position to buy a C7 Z06 at all (maybe the matchbox version), but I like following the progress of the car. So I'm curious as well, this is the type of question a chief engineer can and should answer.

My last Corvette was a 1985. Did not race, even drag it. But in the summer heat of LA and Palm Springs, it had heating problems constantly in normal driving, which forced me to sell it. You did not want to be a traffic jam on I5 or the 405.
It looks like the heating problems will force people to modify their cars, thus voiding their warranty, in trying to cure what maybe a MFG/Design problem.
This is the first Vette since my 1967 Stingray I got at age 17, as a graduation gift(cost 5200 with tax).....that I have been really excited about. The 1985 was a step up from the C3, somewhat bland, but really did not excite me as the 1967 had.
Lets get the kinks out... of what is a great car!
Waiting to buy, I live in the heat and humidity of south Florida now. Don't want to happen what happen to me in 1985 on my 3rd trip to Palm Spring, I came back in a customized Van, as it was again at the dealers for overheating.
At 100 degrees and 100% humidity(many summer days in Houston), this may be not just a track concern.

i would vote for tadge addressing reported heat related performance issued noted in multiple magazine tests. even the a8z07 that andy probst tested at laguna had to be brought in due to overtemp after a few laps.

Given the idea that timing is being pulled etc...logically to protect the engine...when in fact coolant or oil temperatures might be an issue....what are the approximate peak horse power levels changed to?
I've found that this shift in timing with a slight power loss has occurred in all previous generation LS v8s....so..please describe the correlation if at all possible as well.
Thanks in Advance for your response..

And one more +1
As a subset of the question, do the cars GM supplies for magazine testing get recommended alignment settings and also recommended oil?
