No pop-ups. The team at Internet Brands wants to keep the community as it is today. They aren't going to buy something and then ruin it with pop-ups.

What about infernal "in-line" hyperlinks like you see on some other forums? Ie, If I type "Corvette", the software automatically creates a hyperlink from my word to a supporting forum venodr selling Corvettes.

It's really GD'ed annoying.

We get "opportunities" to add advertising like that with some regularity. Troy always turned them down. A few have come in since IB became involved and I forwarded them to IB with the notation we have always turned down that kind of advertising. They concurred and we declined.

With todays pop-up-blocking software, I don't see them as a problem even if you did have them.

If there are no pop-ups then explain to me why I get a pop-up when I'm in my e-mail and see a Corvette Forum reply and I want to go back to that thread. I then click on it and I get a pop-up, not every time -but once in awhile.

I've never had that experience. What does the pop-up say?

We are not serving those pop-ups. Period.

Pop-ups can come from a variety of places. There are many viruses that display pop-up ads. Your mail host could be doing it, etc.. It's not being served up by corvetteforum.

It brought up a site about engine re-building for GM engines. I wish I paid more attention to it. It definitely wasn't one of our Forum vendors. When it happens again I'll post back in here with more info.

I would guess that you have spyware that is popping up ads. The stuff is pretty advanced. They use databases of sites and serve up related ads.

I just about tossed a computer into the garbage once because it was so difficult to remove a version I had that was serving pop-ups every few seconds.

My 'puter is clean and my mail server doesn't send me nothing. It stared about two weeks ago, and in those two weeks it has happened about five times. which isn't too often. Next time it happens I'll PM you with details.
