Are you rewiring the whole system for new speakers? If so I could talk you through it. I just did mine this past weekend.

When I put my blau punkt radio in my Vette I got those wire harness adapters and a face plate adapter kit. Cost about $30-40 at Best buy. You wire the harness to your radio and plug it into you existing wireing.

Sound quality got soo much better. Can listen to the radio with the top off now.

With that said anyone know of a way to get some bass in your vette? And still be able to put the top behind the seats? I miss the 12 and 2 10's that were in my impala but there is no way I can get them in the back. Some high quality 6x9's or something like a slim line 10 or 12 in would be great. I got the seats to vibrate but outside of the car is still quite and we cannot have that.

You could convert the cargo bins into a sub box

I just hired mine out a month ago. I had disassembled things over a year ago, trying to do it myself, but I got stuck on the wiring. I ended up just taking it to a radio shop and having it done. $800 later, I have a kickin stereo.

The $800 included MB Quart separates for the front and a good pair of 6x9s for the back, which came to $450, so $350 for the install. It's done, and I'm happy.

You could also rip out the ABS to make a bigger box! j/k.

No wiring hareness or face plate adapter for a 91 :(

Go to 2 single Din units. A dedicated headunit then a EQ. It fits fine. and no ugly face plate either.

Whole thing, head unit 4 speakers and a Amp, I'm also wiring it for a removable sub, which a may do in the future.

I have about 6 hours in right now about half done :banghead:

There should be plenty of room to build a box that fits completely under the top. I'm currently looking at an Elemental Designs e12a sub. Fantastic sound quality from a 1.0 cubic foot box. There's plenty of room for a cubic foot. Right now I'm playing with different designs to see how I'm going to fit the box and the amp, and still be able to have easy access to the storage bins.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to stuff some 6.5" components up front. I think I've got it all figured out. I'm going to remove the whole Blose box (which currently has 4" JL coaxes in them) and build a new box. With the new box I'll have a good 2.5" of depth, and if I need more, I can build it out and just make a new cover piece that looks stock.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the whole arrangement in the car. It gives me plenty of room to do what I want.

Oh... and there are definately dash kits available for single DIN applications. I'm going to yank mine and do a double-din style mount with a storage tray under the deck.

He probably just wants to be able to yank it for race day.

ugh, this topic really needs to be in audio... then we could help...

but... there is a double din kit...

I have one... check this thread...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=470568

as for rewiring... I don't remember.

but check this link....
http://www.corvetteradios.com./Page.html

The project is not that bad... there is this nifty little channel down the drivers side rocker that will hold 2 4 gauge wires for an amp... fits real good!

I would run all speaker and RCAs under the console... away from the big wires.

Use a good quality 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire... 14 is better.

and use solder... it will cut down on the amount of noise... and won't be as prone to break.

There's nothing preventing that from happening. I'm going to anchor mine down because I don't want to catch it with the back of my skull in an accident, but if you don't anchor it, it can be easily removed.

Here's how I did it in mine. The top still fits! The hardest part was finding subs specced for a small enough enclosure.

Try all that in a '95! Nobody makes any kind of kit for it. It is a 100% custom job, and you have to file on the dash to get the head unit to fit right. I was quoted $380.00 just for the install-AND I ALREADY HAD ALL THE ELECTRONICS, AND SPEAKERS!!!!!!

You need to go to another shop. The dash does not need to be filed anywhere! Period!

380 is about typical for doing a install.

Here is my radio install 'kit'

It is the shell of a stock radio and a iece of an old ECM as the blank panel. The radio trim was cut due to another way I had it installed but this requires no trim modification.
