Default 1991 Convertible - Oil Temp Sensor Problems

OK -- Who can solve this mystery? Went to the GM Manual, replaced oil temp sensor, checked circuits according to manual. All is OK. Grounded out Oil Temp Gage and it works too...pins all the way up to 320. Checked continuity on connector (3 spade tip) as well. All is OK. Gage never goes anywhere even after running for 1/2 hour. WTF??? :smash: :smash: I'm sure the old sensor was good too!

i have a 91 vert too and my temp needle barely ever moves either. My oil pressure needale also is pinned to the max 90 % of the time and flutters the rest. There is a TSB out on this. It's not important to me so i just leave it be.

The oil temp sw is just a thermister like the coolant temp sw.

If the +5Vdc and ground are good and connecting the feedback pin to either ground or +5Vdc pegs the reading the connection to the ECM is OK, so the problem must be in the sensor.

I've replaced the sensor and nothing changed. I dont even think about it anymore. Just make sure you are changing the oil as required and that it is at the right fill level. If a real problem develops it will show up in the collant temp first anyway. At this point i don't even notice mine and my engine runs like new and used no oil between changes.
