Horn Relay/Key Buzzer Location
The 1975-77 AIM sheets (UPC 12G sheet 1) appear to show the horn relay/key buzzer mounted on the main instrument panel harness under the dash near the fuse panel. Am I correct in my interpretation? (My 75 is in storage so I can't double check with mine).
Is this correct for the other years? (i.e. 1969 to 1974 and 1978 through 1982?)
Your help is appreciated.

The key buzzer on my 69 is part of the horn relay itself. It's mounted on the drivers side inner fender, under the hood....It's not in the car, or under the dash. Chuck

Re: Horn Relay/Key Buzzer Location (Jim Shea)
It seems as if there must have been a rolling model change in 1969. Originally it was under the hood and then became part of the interior wiring harness up under the dash. Can any other 1969 owners verify the two locations. Also what about 1977-1982?
I appreciate the help on writing my paper on Horn Operation Diagnosis.

According to my 78 AIM, the horn relay is attached to the harness and pops out about six inches from the fuse panel, so its under the dash. The buzzer attaches to the fuse panel. fuse panel is driver's side.

Jim,
I am 90% sure that this is a picture of it. It is the black box on the right side of the fuse panel...

Re: Horn Relay/Key Buzzer Location (thejaf)
I have no idea where mine is on my 69, since it has never worked. I was told it was on the horn relay as with Chuck's and thejaf's, but I don't know how to recognize it if I saw it. I know where the horn relay is and how it works, but for the life of me I can't figure out how the buzzer is connected or part of this relay.
Can someone with more intelligence than I obivously have tell me or better yet take a picture of what it is supposed to look like? I know I'd appreciate it a great deal.

I got mine working quite by accident. The horn relay is mounted ahead of the master cylinder under the fender apron on the LH side, and it had a black wire with a GM factory end hanging right next to it. I plugged it in to the existing spade on the relay and voila!, my key buzzer worked!

My 70 relay is where Chuck`s is located. Also make sure you take it apart before buying a new one. Mine quit working and took a look at the guts and cleaned the contacts and it works as good as new.

What does it look like? Is it the same relay as the Horn relay? If so, does anyone have a part number for it?

Re: Horn Relay/Key Buzzer Location (Smokehouse69)
Mark. In your 69, the horn relay IS the key buzzer too. The PN is 1115890. If your 69 is "early", prior to SN 9000, you probably use the 68 relay PN 1115862. Should have a white plastic base in 68, a black plastic base in 69. Chuck

I must be wrong then. I wonder what that little box is on the interior then?

Terry Rudy just posted my Horn Operation Diagnosis paper on his http://www.corvettefaq.com websight. It is listed under Steering. It is a one pager and includes a schematic on the horn and key buzzer operation. It also includes the wiring colors.

Jim, as I recall, my '72 had it under the lightswitch area handing loose off the wiring harness, lightweight black 2" square beeper/sonalert....and yes i'ts hard to get too......
BTW, one of the FIRST things I do to all of my cars is find that damn beeper and defeat it....stupid sounding crap....hate it....
I think all runnings lights to be keyed off ignition source....so you can't leave your headlights on, killing battery....
so many silly beepers/alarms in a car these days...can't tell what in hell all the ruckus is about anyway.....all it is is a PIA>.....
silly government regs gone amock.....
thing is....far as I"m concerned...the ONE thing they should have done is wire silly key beepers to water and oil temp/pressure sensors...so when the gauges are out of range...the beeper sounds to alert driver to look at gauges....before the engine blows.....now that is something USEFUL for all that crap.....
it's what I did.....
