You should put in all the details you know. It makes it easier to answer.

For example, on IM you told me that the creaks are from the rear and only in cold weather.

My 02 has started to make a creaking/cracking sound from somewhere under the dash/windscreen area in the last couple of months. My car lives outside and its been too cold and wet for me to want to go outside and play with it, but I just saw a thread in C5 General where there were comments about the dash & instrument panel screws needing to be tightened down a lot, and the clear plastic instrument cover needing to be more secure.

I should be a little more detailed; it sounds like supension squeaks and creak and is worse in cold weather so any advice anyone has to offer would be appreicated.

Welcome, , I think many are just something you'll have to learn to live with. My 97 seems to be getting more and more with each passing mile.

I also have a 99 with similar creaks, had some of the bushings replaced and now the noise is gone.

The noise on mine seemed to come from the rear of the car, where is yours comming from?

I've got a creak coming from the removable roof panel above my left ear that's driving me crazy. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd sure appreciate it!

Rear sway bar bushings pop when riding over bumps. Try pushing down on rear of car to help isolate the problem area
Remove the rear sway bar mounts, pop off the bushings and thoroughly lubricate them with silicone grease and graphite. Remount sway bar and be sure all are tight. You'll need 18mm, 11/16" and a 9/16" socket to remove the mounts. 30 minute job. Don't even have to raise the car.
I just went through this last night, totally quiet now.

I traced mine to the rear swaybar end links, tightening to spec eliminated the noise. You need the proper size torx bit to hold the the shaft while you tighten the nut.

I have a 98 and it started squeaking in the rear passenger side after I put on the C5 lowering kit & Corsa exhaust. It did not squeak over bumps only while the car was rolling and was not due the brakes or wheels. I immediately took it to the dealer who refused to touch it when they saw aftermarket parts -- but happily blamed it on the exhaust install. Took it back to Speed shop & had it realligned which made squeak worse. Took it to another dealer who then blamed it on the shocks. Took it to undercar specialist who concurred it was the shocks -- Got a new set of bilsteins and sound stopped then changed to a high pitched chirp. Took it back to specialist who lubed it with silicone etc. Currently it still chirps on bumps & I am living with it -- BUT everytime I hear it the dagger gets pushed in further. I wish you good luck -- try and find a good honest C5 specialist who you can talk with rather take your money then give you a excuses.

I realize that most of the squeaks you all have experienced do come from the suspension, although, kowck on wood, I haven't noticed them yet. However, if inspection/lubrication of teh suspension doesn't fix the issue don't forget that many "front end/dash" noises are really a squeaky windshield which need to be remounted :yesnod:

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded with advice to fix the problem. I am new to the Dallas Texas area and if anyone can recomend a good honest C5 mechanic/tuner it would be greatly appreciated.

I ws talking about this same problem with my father-in-law who owned a truck and tractor shop for around 40 years. He suggested that it was the bushings for the sway bar and if they are made of rubber, use brake fluid to lube them. He warned if you use any type of conventional oil it will break down the rubber eventually.

So, dies anyone know what the rear bushings are made of?

I had similar noise in the left ear area and thought it was from the removable top. It was actually from inside the sun visor. I even had the dealer get me another visor, it did the same thing. So, I carefully peeled the warning sticker off, slit the visor with a razor blade and squeezed GE silicon into the cavity. Then replaced the warning label over the slit I made. This solved the annoying ticking nise that drove me crazy. Good luck...

As far as tuners go, LG Motorsports in Wylie TX are very knowledgeable C5 people.

So far (knock on wood) the only squeaks I get in my '99 Coupe are from the roof panel latches. After lubricating the latch contact areas with some si grease the squeaks go away.

The best fix I have found for squeaks in my Camaro was a sound system :D
