Best way to run a battery cut-off switch?
You guys that have done this...what's the best way to do it? There isn't a ton of room in that battery tray, but that is probably the easiest place to access a cut-off switch.
Should I just get one from Summit, or what would you recommend.
Since this car is brand new to me, and I don't trust some of the old wiring, I just disconnected the + cable for now. I have a small tool kit I slipped back there and so this is not a big deal to do. It will also prevent a current draw...should I have one and not know it.

Wes - There was a post on this in the last week and many others in the archives. Do a search since members have done it different ways so you can choose which one suits you. :seeya

put it on the - post and install a inline fuse with a 10 amp fuse accross the switch so the clock and radio will not lose their power while the switch is open. :chevy

Save yourself some bucks and use a stud of the right size and length along with an appropriate Wing Nut. Piece Of Cake to hookup and unhook. Not fancy, but you will save yourself some money.......... :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

I have the "knife switch" just like Paul. Bought from JC Whitney. I like it a LOT better than the green wheel on my 69. The only minor problem??? When it's disconnected, and the switch blade is "UP", I have to leave the battery lid door open. NO big problem. My 69 side post battery has the terminals facing forward. Chuck

The WirthCo switch from J.C. Whitney is the way to go! Mine is installed on an Optima Red Top exactly like Paul's. Works great.

I agree with Paul 79...I have the unscrew type...which takes too long...especially if you really need it NOW...

Just a final comment. I used that switch all last summer with no problem at all. I lubed with di-electric grease and there is not a hint of corrosion. It was money very well spent.
