Default L98 Camaro Vs. L98 Corvette

Were there any differences between these two engines? I know the LT1 had several variations.

I could be mistaken (as I often am), but I thought the cam was slightly different in both cars and the corvette had a freer-flowing exhaust.

Yeah..basically just the iron heads. The exhaust is easier to make sound better :D

Certain years had 9.5:1 pistons I am finding out. The iron heads were also a 64cc chamber vs. our 58cc.

What is the disadvantage of iron heads?

Much heavier, worse heat dissipation, flow worse, harder to work on.

What is the disadvantage of iron heads?
Mostly weight differences.
The production Iron weighs what, 45lbs? And the Dport head weighs like 20lbs, most aluminum heads are in that weight range too.

Aluminum has heat retention differences too.

My friend has an 88 IROC-Z, it's basically the same car as mine, except he has iron heads. But then again, his is easier to make faster (ie: cheaper parts, more smog-legal parts) So..I mean, it's a toss up. With about $1200 in mods, his car can run circles around mine.

The F-body L98 (in production in '87) had iron heads, larger chambers (and so different pistons too), log manifolds and internal EGR but I believe it had a roller cam as did our L98.

One of the F-body mods of that era was to upgrade to "Vette heads".

BTW, the "peanut cam" was an '86 special from the General, used in the LB9 motor.

As mentioned, the F-body (at least the '86 IROC) was heavier than the contemporary Vette; my IROC launches at 3,780lbs and the Vette at 3,350lbs.
