Default HELP! Car stuck in driveway... PCM Code P1631>?????

Turned off car to let it cool down, went to start it up, stalled.
Tried again, stalled....
Disconnected neg cable for 5 mins...

Same procedeure, stalled...

Tried to re-set theft deterrent:
Turned key to start, after stall, left key in ignition for 10 minutes until "security" light went off, turned key to "off" for 5 seconds, tried to restart, still stalls...

Locked car via FOB, then unlocked, tried to start, stalled.
Currently I have just disconnected the negative battery cable...
Anyone?????
Ellis

Ellis, the owners manual says that the key pellet may be wet or dirty and to clean it off and wait 3 minutes before trying again. It also says the key pellet may be damaged and to try another key. It says to check the fuse box also.

P1631 is the Theft Deterrent System but I guess you know that.

Tried my other key, which has never been used...
Still stalls...
What am I supposed to be looking for in the fuse box, a blown fuse?
Which # fuse & which box, under the hood, or under the passanger footwell compartment?

At this rate, a tow truck will be here on Monday... :mad

Owner's manual doesn't list Theft Deterrent in all the fuse/breaker listings.

In the pass. footwell, 47 and 50 are ignition and in Engine compartment, 19 is ignition.

Isn't the Theft Deterrent System a 15 minute wait between tries?

Stupid question.. Does the radio work?
P1631 says password is incorrect.
Where else would you enter a password?
Just a thought.

Radio works... Seems like computer is not recognizing my key and won't let the car turn over...It stalls at the same instant it feels like its gonna catch..

On the 15 minutes, I was told to leave the key in the "on" position (after it stalled), until the "security" light went out, (about 10 mins), turn key to off, wait 5 seconds, (while leaving key in the ignition), & retry... I did that & it still won't start.... :mad

P1631 Theft Deterrent System password Incorrect-C
Can't think of any other place where a password is entered.

Try cleaning the ignition switch with canned air or a good vacuum cleaner.
Don’t tip the can !!!

Check this out you may need to go and relearn the pass word for the BCM.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTC P1631 Theft Deterrent Start Enable Signal Not Correct
Circuit Description
This diagnostic tests for mismatched passwords between the BCM and PCM. Whenever replacing the BCM or PCM, follow the theft learn procedure in order for the system to learn the new password.

Conditions for Running the DTC
Mismatched passwords between the BCM and the PCM.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The PCM detects a wrong password from the BCM.
The fuel disable lockout is set.
The system has received an incorrect fuel continue password.
An invalid ignition key or malfunctioning ignition switch.
The BCM was replaced.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The engine starts and then the engine stalls immediately.
The PCM stores the DTC information into the memory when the diagnostic runs and fails.
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not illuminate.
The PCM records the operating conditions at the time during which the diagnostic fails. The PCM stores this information in the Failure Records.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
A last test failed, or current DTC, clears when the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other non-emission related diagnostic.
Use a scan tool in order to clear the DTC.
Test Description
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

The 11 minute and 30 second time criteria are a minimum required amount of time. The time limit can exceed this limit without interfering with the Auto Learn Procedure. Use a scan tool (VTD Auto Learn Timer equals Inactive) in order to determine when the 11 minutes has expired.

If DTC P1631 is set, this indicates that you did not follow the procedure correctly. Perform the Re-learn procedure again.

I've heard of this happening to someone else before and it was because his BCM got wet.

BCM is NOT wet.
AC went down as well, before all this, so no condensation line blockage.
Passenger footwell & BCM completely dry.
Will try the BCM re-learn procedeure, but still keeping the tow truck appt for the morning. :mad
