Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

Well, I've decided to dump the "Good for a Years" and go with a real tire. For various reasons, I'm going with Michelin Pilot Sports A/S. Yes, I'm sticking with a runflat tire. The thought of getting a flat on the corner of Chicago & Lake scares the **** out of me. What turned me off to the Firestones is their width. They are quite a bit narrower than either the Michelins or Goodyears.

Anyway, I'm having trouble finding anybody that has them in stock. At the Tire Rack, they are on "back order" with no firm delivery date. Also, my local Tire shop can't get me a set nor can Tires Plus. So, where are you all getting these tires?

These boys should be able to fix you up: http://dt.Know-Where.com/DiscountTir...r+MN&go=Search

I bought mine three months ago and they needed to have the fronts shipped from one warehouse and the backs from a different warehouse. America's matches mail order prices, has all the proper equipment, and charges very little for mounting and balancing. Here the charge is $46 for mounting and balancing all four tires. I also bought the warranty for about $160 which covers full replacement for no charge. Most tire shops pro-rate their warranty claims.

My tires now have 14K on them and they are performing great. I am trying to keep the HOT psi at a maximum of 32 psi which means on cold mornings I get a DIC message for too low tire pressure.

mozin.........Thanks for the tip. I called Discount Tires in Eden Prairie, MN and they tell me that they have the fronts in stock, but the rears will take about ten days to get in. The price they quoted me was about $1,500 "out the door." Is that a good price? Also, the Michelins have the rubber rim protectors like the Firestones. Right? Finally, how long can you drive on a flat with the Michelins? Thanks.

mozin..........WOW!!!!!!!! Thanks for the e-mail. This forum is the greatest because of individuals like you. :yesnod:

Anybody know of somebody looking for a slightly used (fronts have 9/32s left and rears have 6/32s left) set of Goodyear EMTs? I wonder why the rears are more worn than the fronts?

In a few days, I'll do a post in the for sale section.

To all concerned parties,

If your still in the market for the Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure (i.e., Run Flat) tires Costco is able to special order the tires. I ordered my set on Friday June 28th, 2002. According to the technition the tires will be in this week. I will have them installed on Saturday July 6th, 2002 if the tires have been delivered by then.

I just bought a set or Michelin AS Pilot Sport Zero Pressure tires at CostCo last week. They were $278/$333 for front/rear each. Total cost was $1287. There is no charge for mounting and balancing and a nominal ($4 buck a tire) charge for tire disposal. They had to order the tires and they arrived in 4 days. They did a competent job of mounting the tires.

Note: The salesmen were not aware that CostCo sold zero pressure tires and I had to insist that they look it up !!!
