The one and only '77 Corvette Chartreuse paint code 41 ?????
Does anyone know the history behind this one and only? Does it still survive? Has anyone heard any stories about it?

I haven't heard anything about it. I'd like to know what happened to it too. I love cars with unusual paint colors.

It must have been wrecked, junked or someone is driving around in a car without having any idea how rare it is.

Noted Corvette author/historian Noland Adams did view it personally at St. Louis. He said it was very unique and "different" looking. He did not know where it went from there.

I should have repainted mine that color. ;)
I wonder if anyone has had a small amount of paint mixed to see how it looks? Or maybe even reopainted with chartreuse?

Heard the last that car was seen was when a photo was made to go in the file of the painter :jester (formerly w/ another car co.) under
Reason for dismissal.
PS A rare color would not make a car valuable.

This question was also asked over at;
"1977 Corvette Forum"
Does anyone know the backstory on the lone chartreuse '77 Corvette? I have always wondered since I learned of its existence in the Black Book. Must have been ugly as Hell, but I am really curious about why it was painted that color, for who, etc. Anyone? ???
I spent an hour on my 15 different advance search engines and could only find it listed in several Corvette Specifications links. :(
However I did find some neat stuff for you "1977 Corvette guys" here:
http://www.1-4u-computer-graphics.co.../yabb/YaBB.cgi
in the:
"1977 Corvette Information"
and
"Tech/Performance"
Check them out...

I looked on yahoo and it spit this out about Rickie Lee Jones:
"She was photographed, for the cover of Waits' 1978 album Blue Valentine, wearing a red dress and leaning across a chartreuse-colored Corvette."
It would be cool if Tom Waits owned the chartreuse corvette!
There is a song on that album that mentions shooting a hole in the hood of a yellow corvette :( So it could be just a dull yellow corvette. I also looked for the album cover but it is just a pic of Waits... no vette.

Well I found the album pic and it is a C2. So it looks like the Tom Waits lead was wrong :(

I have also wondered what happened to the Chartreuse Vette as well as the other vettes with limited production. Here is a link to the colors that were available in 77 as well as all other years.

By the way, has anyone ever seen the 1979 Light Blue Vette or 1982 Silver Green Metallic? Anyone have any pics of the 1 1983 Vette?
