Default Stock Z06 exhaust manifold swap

Would there be much (if any) performance gain in swapping out my LS1 exhaust manifold for one that came off a 02 Z06 ? My engine is completely stock right now.

I have read numerous messages regarding this mod.The popular consensus is with other mods, there is a increase in power, but just changing the manifold only, the increase in power is minimal. If you are planing to install heads, cam and a few other "goodies",I would think the manifold would be benefical for you.The manifold could be installed in conjunction with the other mods and there wouldn't have a additonal labor charge. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy

What year is your car? If you have a 2001 the LS6 intake is already there. :yesnod:

Bob

Checked your profile you have a 2000. Some say they notice a nice kick in the shorts after this mod. Some notice no improvement. Good Luck!

I assume that goes for the 2002 as well, re: LS6 intake?

So are you saying that the Exhaust manifold/header is the same for a Z06 as any 2001/2002 Vette?

the exhaust manifold is different on the Z06. It's a different type of material that heats up faster... negating th eneed for the pre-cats. But, I have seen no data that says they flow better than the ones on the LS1 2001/2002.

The exhaust manifold is not the intake manifold .
Intake is the same for 2001 and beyond for Z06/LS1
Exhaust is different...just to clarify a lil... :chevy

Save up for real long-tube headers...I wouldn.t bother with swapping any stock ex manifold be a waste of time--
Heads, on the other hand... :smash:
(PS--for those who don't know, and explanations sake, the intake manifold is the composite plastic unit that sits on top of the engine between the fuel rail covers that the airbox/ throttle-body connect to...
the exhaust manifold is on the sides of the engine, below the fuel rail covers, connecting the heads to the pipes of the exhaust under the car)

OK...
Wasn't the original question about the exhaust manifold?

I just checked my Corvette Parts CD and they list the 2001 / 2002 EXHAUST MANIFOLDS as being the same for the LS1 and LS6. LH - 122561255, RH - 12561256. These numbers are in the price section for group 3.601. Is this correct or are they in fact different?

From what I've heard, the ex manifold is made of a different material on the '02, (Iron, I think) which heats up faster..activating the Cats quicker, eliminating the need for the more restrictive pre-cats-- which frees up flow, therefore HP---
