We can do a heads and cam package for you. The 400 HP mark is relatively easy to do with a 6-speed C5. We can handle that task with a relatively mild cam that will idle excelent! :yesnod:

Let me know if I can help or if you have any questions about one of our packages. I would be happy to help. :)

But, seriously I have seen claims of 5-10 or 10-15 w/various bolt-on mods (i.e. cold air systems, exhaust systems, LS6 intake, etc.). I am just looking for a few mods to improve performance. The cams/heads suggestion seems to be the best, but then there is significant cost relative to the bolt-on mods.

1st step is the bolt-ons: Cold air intake & headers.

2nd step is a heads/cam package, but make sure the tuner provides a warranty as your GM warranty will be voided.

There are other options: Supercharger, Turbos, Stroker packages. It comes down to how much $$$ you want to spend. Check out the Forum tuners; most sites have info regarding packages & cost.

I replied to your post in the General Discussion section. You will need serious engine work for RWHP. Bolt ons won't do it.

I just noticed that you didn't specify Rear wheel horsepower or crank

LS6 intake manifold will add a few ponies. After-market cat-back exhaust will not add HP, but will make the car sound sweet! :yesnod:

You driving an A4 or MN6?

Sully C5, it's an A4.

MMarquez, I was looking at crank on the one hand and rear wheel on the other. I know most manufacturers look at crank and dinos look at rear wheel.

Thanks.

Since you have an A4, changing to a 3.42 rear & a high stall torque converter such as SY3500 will give you significantly better acceleration. :yesnod:

Very interesting. Are you running a 3.42 rear? If so, who did the work? What's the downside? What's the cost?

The 3.42 and a Torque Converter will make the power you have "felt" more ie.. greater SOTP feeling...

If you are looking for 400 Crank... bolt ons will work.....
for 400RWHP you will need serious work...

If you want the feeling of more power.. the gears and TC will work great... but if you race and like to compete ... you are going to have to do some major engine work...

I dont race... I bought this car cause it is powerful enough for me stock.... but if you want more power I suggest ARE for the work since I have heard good things and my friend had his Firebird done there and they did a great job..

If you are looking for a serious race machine I reccommed a Camaro... my brother runs low 10's in his 98 Camaro with only Head Cam and some juice.... an all of this was for under 10K including the car since everything for F-Bodies is almost 1/2 the cost of the same part for the Vette it is cheaper...

I have 3.15 rear & the Yank 3000. Here is a link to info about torque converters... http://www.converter.cc/main_page.htm You can pick up 3.42 gears for ~$500 & install of rear & TC runs ~$600. 3.42's & TC will definitely reduce 1/4 mile ET...it is not just SOTP feel.

I am not really interested in racing my car...I also feel that it is plently powerful as is. However, I like the handling of my lowered car so much that I can see were any increase in SOTP feeling would be appropriate. I am not sure if I will go for the serious engine work, so bolt-on power increases may just be the way I will go. Thanks again for your input. :yesnod:

Your welcome... many of the more popluar people on the Forum are big time racers... like Snowman, Darth Vetter, and SW... but they do this because they want a race car and enjoy the power at their level... but if you are looking for streetable power... there has to be a limit, or you will be roasting tires monthly...

SullyC5 is getting a 427... those are high HP engines but I have driven an A4 LPE 427 and if you foot isnt heavy, traction w/ AH and TC on.. is perfect even with GY Runflats...

The same can be said about Heads and Cam...

But if you are like the vast majority of us on the board... most of our mod's are not large... I would say 50% may have heads and cam... 10% have anything more(427,422, Superchargers,TT) ... most of us get some NOS(Not for me), appearance mods, and simple performance bolt ons that put us in the 340RWHP mark
