Intake Manifold Price
Any thoughts  I got a quoted a price today for a replacement intake manifold for my 1967 Corvette, 327/300 no option car. The qoute was $175. ( it is correctly dated for my car) The manifold will need to be cleaned, inspected, and painted. Is it a fair price. Could really use some fee back on this. On e-bay I found one for an early 66 Corvette for only $40 and it sold for $52.

Sounds high to me, depends on how bad and how fast you want it. I think you could do better at a swap meet IMHO. Good luck, been there, done that. :blueangel:

It's high. These things come up on Ebay all the time. Correctly dated, freshly painted, clean passages, good carb studs, and all fittings might get it up to $150. But then again, how bad do you need it; and, how long can you wait for another one to come around? If you found a bargain one tomorrow, wouldn't it go for at least $50-$100? So, how much are you saving by passing on this one and looking around? This is why used parts prices are so high. You need the thing. Yes, it's expensive, but you only need one of them to make your car complete.

Thanks for the reality check. I don't need the intake to finish. I have one on the car, wrong numbers, but I do have one. I think I will just keep my eyes open and wait. Again, if anyone has one please let me know.

If it's in fine shape and is PROPERLY DATE CODED for your car, I'd buy it. Time may come when you want one and you may not be able to find one with the right date.
I bought one for my '57, paid $150 for it, but it included a Carter WCFB carb.

Buy it. I looked forever, 6am swap meets, Hemmings never found even one close. I forget what I paid but that sounds right. That manifold only came on Corvettes so it's not like there are a lot of them. The thing I don't understand why it's not coming to you clean and inspected. The one I bought is beautiful clean no breaks all threaded components in good shape. CA Kev

Sounds high. They are out there, you just got to look. They are not that desirable, being cast iron. Most people want and pay the big bucks for the factory aluminum intakes. I bought a correct 300 hp intake, cleaned, painted, perfect through the NCRS Driveline ads for $50. It is a good source for parts. Ads are free to members, so a lot of members advertise there parts for sale.

Re: Intake Manifold Price (Jeff Garner)
Perfect example of how nutty this is getting. A manifold for how much when the numbers match versus when the numbers don't match OR the selller doesn't know about "Numbers Match". Just exactly why I won't play that game, just exactly why people ask, and get, the crazy exorbitant prices they ask. Just nuts. How bad do you wanna get screwed. This could be the last one on earth better grab it quick no matter how high the price.

Not to get off topic, and God knows this subject has been beat to death but...
it's just a hobby! If you think Corvette restorers are bad take a look at some other hobbies like coin collecting: dates, rare and unusual minting, variants, and condition rankings that would blow your mind (*MS65, MS63, MS63+, BU, Extra Fine, et al). The same with stamp collectors and just about every other hobby I'm familiar with. Now while it's true that some do go a little overboard, I say "Live and let live". And as with every thing else in America, the market will set the price. Nobody's twisting anyone's arm.

Sorry, I was wrong wrong wrong. I bought my manifold from Classic Engine Co.
1-920-235-8365.
2445 Bowen ST Oshkosh WI 54901. Don't know if it is any less expensive but it came clean and checked out. If you come across a 3814 carb let me know.

MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU GUYS ARE PAYING THIS KIND OF PRICE FOR THESE THINGS, I NEED TO GET INTO THE BUSINESS!!!!!!! A gazillion 300hp-327s were made and these intakes should sell for $50 TOP DOLLAR! I know you may have to search around for a while to find the date/casting # that you need, but at swap meets I have seen these types of intakes for $15-25 MANY times.

Re: Intake Manifold Price (RESPO6T7)
I assume that this is a cast iron intake? A few years ago I paid $200 for an aluminum intake with the chrome oil fill tube and original cap. I thought I stole the thing. If some folks are telling you that they come on ebay for $150 and you can get one for $175, then I would recommend buying it. After all, how much is shipping for a cast iron intake? By my old style math this looks like a difference of only $25! How long will it be before you see another properly dated and numbered intake? OK, so the ones on ebay are cleaned and painted. It should take you less than an hour and one can of Chevy orange paint.
Buy the thing now after you offer the guy a slightly lower price.

Re: Intake Manifold Price (GaryS)
The information I based my answer on is the following,
The GM #3872763 intake manifold was not exclusive to Corvettes, although it was for the 1967 model year. However, for 1966 this manifold was used for Chevy II, Chevelle, and full size Chevrolets with the 275 hp 327 and without A.I.R. as well as all 66 Corvettes with 327-300. Since for 1967 it was used only on Corvettes, it will be more difficult to obtain a properly date coded manifold for your car.

Thanks, Point me in the right direction and I'll buy it. I did not buy the ebay manifold. I'm still in the market.
