Recall: 1,939 C7’s
GM Recall announced today 6/27/2014
2014 Corvette
This recall is to replace the rear shock absorbers in 1,939 U.S. Chevy Corvettes from the 2014 model year that have the FE1 or FE3 suspension. GM says that a possible bad weld in the rear shocks could lead to a fracture and/or could reduce the shocks' service life. Also included are 33 2014 Corvettes in Canada and 82 that were exported. GM says it knows of no related crashes or injuries.
Chassis / Suspension
The 2014 Corvette Stingray has four available suspension systems. They are identified as follows:
Suspension System Soft Ride — RPO FE1
Suspension System Sport — RPO FE3
Suspension System Special Ride and Handling — RPO FE4 (Magnetic Selective Ride Control)

And on here. Cue the "The Sky Is Falling and All C7s Are Bad" trolls here. Cuz, you know, under 2,000 recalled out of over 30,000 is definitely falling sky news.

But now is a good time to make sure you are in the GM system with your proper address. If you have received something like a thank you present from GM or some other comm, you're good. But if you have heard nothing, there is a potential your dealer might have messed up your address when he registered the car sold. After all, how GM knows you, is still a manual keypunch process done at the dealer by a "close to min wage" clerk.

Le Mans Master
This C7 recall is hopefully minor. But GM as a corporation is starting to look really bad. They just announced this today:
DETROIT -- General Motors is calling back 392,459 of its newest pickups and SUVs in the U.S. for a problem that could allow the trucks to slip into neutral unexpectedly, as the automaker continues a sweeping safety review in the wake of its bungled handling of a faulty ignition switch.
At 63, I've been a lifetime GM fanboy. But man, I'm really starting to wonder....

This sounds like it is related to the yellow vert that was replaced by GM a month or so ago when the right rear wheel turned off the suspension. That particular thread got pretty heated and was deleted by the OP and no resolution info ever came from it. This sounds like the resolution.

Safety Car
First year cars have always had there share of problems, the price you pay for being the first people to own the cars, it never changed and never will.
If it was something super serious I would be worried, but a shock not at all, what are you worried about, a ride that is a little hard when you hit a pothole.
The suppliers should be the people who are worried, and I'm sure the only thing they are worried about is if there shocks will be on the rest of the c7's.

So is it basically all the cars except the magnetic ride? That can't be right? I have mine with a TPW of 6/30. Hope it doesn't slow things down or affect my car. Could this be connected with the guy who has a safety hold due to a weld?
