Default C5 Z06 Brake Rotor Upgrade Suggestions

I'm looking at options for new rotors for my C5 Z06. For a while i was very set on the Baer Eradispeed +2 setup but future plans for my car will not allow me to run the rear rotors even after shaving the caliper.

(See Toque's website for further explanation on what i mean by shaving the caliper.)

http://www.toquez06.com/baer.html

I'm leaning towards the C6 Z51 brake rotor upgrade as suggested from John @ CCW. Is there any other brake rotors i should consider that i can use with my stock calipers and not have to relocate them to a wider setting?

Other parts i will also be installing are: Russell SS brake lines, Speed Bleeders, and Motul Brake Fluid.

The Eradispeeds are some of the best out there. If you are thinking if going with stock C6 Z51 rotors, why not go with the Eradispeed replacements for the C6 Z51 set up? That's what I used when I upgraded my C5's brakes. I went with the stock calipers from GM Parts House and picked up the rotors from WCC. Using the supplied brackets that came with the rotors everything bolted right up with no issues. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

So in other words I could go with the Baer eradispeed 1pc setups that come in Oem sizes correct? Would you happen to have a picture of what they look like on your car? Part numbers?

Thanks for your response.

I used the 2 piece Eradispeeds so I guess they were the Eradispeed plus maybe. Not sure. They were specifically for the C6 Z51 setup. I'll check my records when I get home today and màke sure for you. Yes I do have some pics and will post those up today as well for you.

Those look great, what are the part numbers on them?

To be sure, you didn't have to add spacer in the rear to push the caliper out forward to clear the rotor did you? The 1pc to my understanding are OEM sizes correct?

I was able to find this data sheet for the Baer Eradispeed +2 rotor in the rear. I sent it over to John to confirm that even after shaving the caliper if the rotor will indeed not work with their 20x12.5 4.5lip ccw 505.

I tried my best to break down the data sheet last night to see if the wheels would work but to an inexperienced person like myself it's all gibberish. Can anyone check it out and help me out? (attached document)

Evil twin pm'd me last night and made a great point about having a bigger wheel with small calipers will look pretty bad.

I really hope they fit if not i'm going to have to option for the 1pc or something else.

C6 Z51 Rotors and Brackets, use your calipers!

Most effective and least expensive upgrade to do for brakes! Contact Gene Culley @ GM Parts House!

Thanks,Matt

I have Decala front rotors, calipers, and brackets in the front and REAR of my car! They bolt up perfect without any mods, braking was greatly improved especially at the track, I have an auto and can launch at 2700 instead of 1500 before with the crappy baby calipers on the rear! stopping from 100+ was also very noticeably better.

No spacers , no grinding needed just slap on and go. Baer just updated their rotors. They have less slots and fewer cross drilled holes . I will look for parts # number. After a year they still look great .

Thanks, for the input on the 1pc rotors. Could you also post a pic of the rears as well?

These were my 2 piece Eradispeeds in C6 Z51 sizes with C6 Z51 calipers...Great bang for your buck as mentioned above! Bolted right up with no clearance issues. I noticed you are looking at a 4.5 inch rear lip...that might pose you an issue.

OK, here is a stupid question:

What is the difference in caliper from the C5 to the C6 Z51? I don't know if my buddies C6 is a Z51, but I swear his calipers are the same as my C5 Z51.

I ask because I was looking at swapping to a 2 piece rotor and steel brake lines next month, but was just going to powdercoat my calipers and rebuild them with new pads.

To be honest I don't think there's much difference between the C5 caliper and the C6 caliper aside from the C6 caliper appearing smoother. I remember reading that the pistons were bigger in the C6 caliper leading to a stronger grip...not sure about that though. The C6 Z51 rotor is bigger than the C5. As long as I was upgrading my set up I just went ahead and matched the whole system. Would do it again in a skinny minute!

So would I need a C6 Z51 bracket then to space off my C5 caliper to account for the larger rotor?

Seems like I have some research to do, good thing I'm not busy working at work.

Yes you need to C6 Z51 brackets to be able to use the C6 Z51 rotors on the C5. Here's the break down on part numbers:

88964166 Front Caliper Brackets
88964167 Rear Caliper Brackets
89060328 Front Rotors
89060329 Rear Rotors

I got quoted just under 400 for this setup. Still exploring other options. I'm really looking at the Baer Eradispeed 1pc rotors.

So the calipers are the same, that is awesome news. I might see if I can find a deal on the brackets (or if my little brothers was a Z51, I will steal his old ones) and go with the 2 piece rotor in the Z51 size, otherwise I will keep my setup since I have drilled/slotted 1 piece rotors now and just rebuild my calipers when I do the steel lines.

This forum rocks.

I have "Centric - POWER SLOT"... StopTech Rotors from Tire rack and Performance Friction pads. happy with them. Slotted rotors dont tend to crack like Drilled rotors and offere more surface area for grip... should make for more stopping power.
Brembo makes some, DBA Makes some and Centric make some that are good and wont break the bank to bad.

GM makes a decent pair of rotors cheap.. AC Delco DuraStop. Some venders should be able to set you up with these.

Tire Rack offerings:

All One Piece:

StopTech -Powerslot

Hawk -Slotted

DBA T3 Slotted

Brembo -Slotted
