Default Converting Caliper Lip Seals to O-rings

I am wanting to convert my calipers to O-rings from lip seals since they are leaking. When converting, do I need to buy new pistons or will my current ones work?

They come as a kit with the pistons. If your calipers are already sleeved, just pop these in for $80 and you will be all set.

It is actually a very simple and straight forward install. The kit will come with easy to follow instructions. I found it much easier than replacing the lip seals. I already had swapped out my calipers for the Stainless steel ones from Vette Brakes so all I needed to do was clean them up a bit with some 2000 wet/dry sand paper with a little brake fluid. I then rinsed them out good, wet the bores and the o-rings with a bit of clean brake fluid and install.

Fairly routine job.

Here are some pics I took when I did the calipers in my 69.

My kit came from Vette Brakes & Products.

Just be careful installing the lip seals. It's easy to screw them up if you tap too hard too soon.

I have been unable to check today since too cold, but will the o-ring kits work with calipers that don't have ss sleeves installed? Not sure if mine have them or not.

If your caliper bores aren't pitted and just required a light honing, you won't have to have them sleeved. The O-ring pistons and seals will work fine.
