Default will we see a $50,000.00 zr1 soon?

with the new stingray seems like the c6 z06 and the zr1 have also took a big hit in prices as of late. So the question is will the zr1 soon end up in the 50 thousand dollar range.

Thanks

If I saw a 50k zr1 for sale in 2-5 years from now I'd wonder what is wrong with it.

Out of curiosity, I went onto Ebay motors; the lowest price is a 2009 with 51K miles for $65K. The average asking price is around $75K for the ZR1s.

A nice red 2009 with only 348 miles, they want $85K.

Especially since most of these cars will be low miles to begin with....don't look for lower prices in that range for awhile.

Despite the C7, I think the ZR1 will hover in the 70-85k range for a used one in good shape. I mean despite all the hype over the new model and technology, the ZR1 is still a 638HP beast and looks bad azz. Easily tunable and modded to 700HP.

I know if I could afford one (ZR) I would buy one over the C7, and I do like the C7 for the most part.

Sure you will as soon as somebody who owns one puts around 70,000 miles on it then decides to sell.

That is not gonna happen soon also, most of the owners are scared to put miles on the car!

I think in 2 years they will be down to 40-45k for a nice one and they will bottom at that point.

Very nice C4 Zr-1's are 35% of their Sticker prices at 20-25k and they settled in at that level at 7-8 years after their initial release and have bottomed at that point---- Therefore C6 Zr1's will be 35% of their 115 to 125 sticker at 40-45k. Using that same math ratio, C6 Z06's will settle in at about 30-35k.

C4-zr-1s are a heck of a deal and the C6 Z variants will be a heck of a deal.

Since we are all guessing anyway...

I think it depends on what HP the new Z06 has. If it goes above 640, the ZR1 will not be so special anymore.

If it comes in at less than 600, the ZR1 will still rule and hold value.

We'll see.

I haven't seen a "big hit" on C6 Z car prices since the C7 came out, and I don't see ZR1 prices below $50k for a while. If I found a good ZR1 under $60k or so right now I'd be all over it.

Considering 06 Z06's are still bringing high30's to low 40's not in this decade...Unless its a flood car or stolen etc...

Exactly, there is no above normal decline in "other" gen Vette prices nor will they be...Well not due to the c7 at least...

I am not caught up in resale value since I'm not selling or have plans to sell, but I don't see the resale hit the OP is referring to.

I bought my Z06 two years ago and as far as I can tell it hasn't lost any money. Even after driving it 10k miles, even if it was stock I think I could sell it for what I paid for it. If I hadn't driven it, I bet I could flip it for a profit. A local friend just sold his 06 Z06 for more than I paid for mine two years ago.

And I know folks who bought their cars back in 09~ for an excellent deal when the economy went to hell and have depreciated very little even after 5 years.

This is not to say the Z06 or ZR1 won't depreciate further, but I don't think the C7 has had any major influence as of yet. I think the only way the Z cars will drop further is if there is something more compelling for the money. At prices as low as 70k~ for a ZR1 and 40~k for a Z06, I can't think of anything better for the money.

I haven't seen a big hit in C6 prices in general from the C7. Only I the minds of some people on here.

I think you'll see the very early, 50-60k or more ZR1s hit in the upper 50s in 3 or so years. By that time, they'll be nearly 10 years old, and succeeded by a C7 ZR1 (if there's no C7 ZR1, you might see this take even longer). The clean, lower mileage cars will stay in the 70s for a few years IMO.

C6 Z06s I see holding value very well due to the fact that you're not going to have a big NA motor in the C7 Z06 if reports are true. The 427 nostalgia, and the guys who love the big v8s will keep demand and prices for the C6 Z06 high for some time. Right now they're $40-60k, I don't see them falling much from there, even with the C7 Z06 being out.

Base C6s also haven't seen a big hit in prices, and I wouldn't expect them to either. Eventually your really early models with low mileage and no options will settle into the mid 20s, with the higher end models falling into the upper 20s. The LS3 era cars I see falling into the low to mid 30s and stabilizing there for a few years.

The C7's impact on the C6 pricing has been, and will continue to be, minimal at most. It appeals to a different demographic, and lacks the staying power styling wise the C6 has. I think you're going to see a big drop in C7 used prices before a big drop in C6 used car prices.

I cant speak for anyone else, but MY 2006 Z06 has not depreciated at all. I would not sell it for less than what I paid it. Is it worth that much??? It is to me. Maybe no one else, but then, I don't really care. I have no plans to sell it. As far as ZR1 prices, I seriously doubt you will see one in the 50k range unless it is just ragged out.

Default Lingenfelter beats ZR1

I see a couple of ZR1 on Ebay right now that u could get for $60k.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR1-Coupe-2-Door-2009-red-zr-1-supercharged-corvette-/261367272544?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3cdab41460&item=261367272544&pt=US_Cars_Truckshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR1-w-3ZR-638-hp-perfect-carfax-navigation-bose-see-my-z-06-and-grand-sport-also-/281237520472?forcerrptr=true&hash=item417b100058&item=281237520472&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Why wait for ZR1 prices to come down when today u can get a GS with the Lingenfelter 670 HP kit on it for less than $50k. Comes with a ZR-1 type hood and then get some ZR1 wheels, badges, spoiler, ect. and u have a ZR-1 for cheaper with more power.

If go to trade one in it will be worth that. You know dealers are going to shaft ya.
Private sales. Have to see. The last one is obsolete now. So C6 ZR1 will be too.
