Default Custom AutoSound Speakerbar?

Hello,
Has anyone put one of the Custom Speaker bar (Eckers part: http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1963-1982.html ) in a 80.. If so, can you still put T-tops in back and how does it sound?
Thanks

I didn't but I did buy a speaker box from Brightstar Car Audio that worked great for my '73. T Tops fit in the back. http://brightstarcaraudio.com/

If an opinion from what I can see matters it looks like the t-tops may still fit if it was me I would call ecklers and ask them .

I had one of these sound bars in the '78 I used to own. It saved space and had decent sound...definitely better than the factory speakers in the front.

Bottom line...it was worth the money. Just don't expect concert quality.

I'm currently in the process of putting one of these in my '79 plus new carpeting, not expecting great sound but think it will be better than factory...I don't think it will hinder the storage of t-tops...

I spoke to Custom Autosound who makes that sound bar. I have a 72 and wanted a good sounding solution. The engineer I spoke to there steered me away from the soundbar and had me get the undercover II speakers with 8 inch woofers. The whole set just leans against the back wall and can handle WAY more watts than the soundbar and is far more sturdy.

Sounds pretty good..,

Does it actually attach to anything or just lean against the back? I hope it gets anchored down somehow. In a sudden stop - aka collision - those speakers would become UFO's and come forward in a hurry. Very dangerous.

I'm sure there would be a simple creative solution to secure them.....

I bought a different ebay speaker box that fits back there, but i'm going to have to move my rear cargo light now.....
Any of you have awesome ideas for that ????? Pictures?
Don't mean to highjack the thread.....kinda goes with the whole project though....

Cheers!!!!!

Hey Tiger Fan - it is a pressure fit and stays put. The T-tops fit back there just fine. Sound is good but you will not get a lot of bass as the displacement of the area is low, but is does sound clear and is worth the 119.00 vs building a box and buying speakers. You can use it right after installation and if not liked start your own box.

I have one that I am not using and if you are interested or anyone else drop me an mail to dbc340parks@aol.com and it is yours for $50 and shipping as economical as I can. Thx

Brightstar Audio has a large selection of speaker boxes for the C3.

Ultimately, I took the Undercover speakers out and replaced them with a very simple solution.

You won't believe it, but WALMART has a $29 dollar speaker box that sounds great and fits right in there. I know.. I know.. $29??? Trust me when I tell you I bought it figuring I'd just return it -- but it's been the best purchase I've made.

Anyone know how any of these options fit in a convertible? I imagine the coupe application is a lot easier, but Im wondering how they fit with a soft top folded in front of them.

I had my stock '69 radio converted to new guts but the speaker system is just terrible. The kick panel speakers are worthless, the '69 dash does not have speaker provisions and I have a couple ugly boxes in the back that distort upon high Marilyn Manson volume.

Love an answer to this dilemma.
