They ran the car around 6 weeks ago right? I remember they were saying they couldn't get good weather but the Z28 ran a 7:37 or something like that. Maybe they haven't gotten the time out of it yet they'd want to announce.

Correct. Prolly summer tires didn't have the grip they wanted...
We can wait.

Yes the car was at the Ring. No we haven't heard the result. There were lots of comments at the time that the conditions were less than optimal. If I were GM I would wait until perfect conditions before finalizing a time because it will become instantly immortalized as a comparison to the 911S. For the Z28, I think they were less concerned because the car is so low in volume and really doesn't have a lot of direct competition so it didn't matter as much.

My prediction is the C7 comes in around the Z28 time even though the Z28 was in less than optimal conditions.... it is a pretty much dedicated track car remember!

There have been two different test sessions that we've seen on video's so far. A blue one driven by we assume Jim Mero and a red one by Patrick Herrman. Patrick said that they would be testing at various circuits around Europe with the red one. Here's a video of the red one taken by some tourists.

The Z-28 was on Trofeos....not even close to a rain tire and the track was damp when it ran.

Probably lackluster time posted and GM is too embarrassed to announce...especially after that stellar Z28 time.

Or they're waiting on the proper time to announce and generate hype.

That too. People who don't like the C7 will speculate GM is embarrassed and won't release the time. I think that is just silly. The car has been more than proven on many other tracks so there is zero reason to doubt it will perform as expected on the Ring. Some members have a subtle way of taking jabs at the car disguised by carefully worded threads

Pretty superficial if you ask me. I know it is important to some........ bragging rights and the like but only thing that matters to me is my daily drive enjoyment.

Guys don't turn another thread into some he said she said BS. If GM is so worried about getting an optimum time why don't they run 1/4 mile times in the most favorable conditions? Maybe as 4-sho said they are waiting for the right time to brag it did so well or as LFZ said it may have fallen flat on its face! My guess is they have run it but weren't pleased with the outcome.

They will release the time in conjunction with a big, coordinated advertising campaign highlighting same when they feel successful marketing requires it. That time has not arrived yet.

Then why would GM release the Z28 times? It was run in poor weather slightly raining on some portions of the track. The Z28 also could have ran a faster time? I for one would like to know the time good or bad.. I love the C7 and will own the hi po model when it comes out.

GM decided it was the right timing for Z28 marketing purposes to release its time. Each situation is individually determined.

None of us can do anything but speculate about that at this point. One thing we do know is that the C7 has, thus far, demonstrated all of the attributes necessary to achieve a very good time at the Nurburgring.

Does it matter? The car isn't NOT selling because of unpublished 'Ring lap times---it's doing quite well, actually. So, really there are a relative few who care, many or most of whom are other car manufacturers who can then pounce on the numbers.

And what would THEY do with it? Publicize it among their brand car clubs and marque clubs to the relatively few who wouldn't switch to a C7 in any event. Those who are inclined to "switch" to a C have read all the reviews, and been to one or more events to see the actual car. Probably even driven the car once, or more.

GM/Corvette waiting to include it in an ad campaign? For whom to see, and what will it tell them? Not much. Not much for sales either. If anything, it is more of an internal test or measurement to see how it's going. That's my take on it. It's kinda like worrying about the nappa vs. mulan vs. "suede", and is mulan another form of bonded leather...
