Default New PB, first trip out.

Well I got a new PB, first trip out on the new combo, everything went pretty well other then the weather was terrible and the track was stupid crowded with street cars/trucks.

First before we head out.....a glamour shot...

Get to the track, unload, and the fog starts rolling in... DA is already at +1135' at this point.

First pass(#1 slip), a very soft leave, wot about 2 car lengths out.
Second pass, it blew the tires off on a hard launch attempt..--aborted.

Third pass (#2 slip), Launched about 1900rpms, smooth throttle to the floor....a little soft but decent.

Both of those were in full street trim...93 oct, through the air filter, 15* timing.

This is what our weather was doing...

So I pulled the air filter, put the stack on, added some race fuel and bumped the timing to 17*.... Waited in line for about 2 hours, then they decided to shut the track down...It was just too wet every where....

I was happy nothing broke, I was happy with a 9.35 on only the 2nd pass out....I was happy how the RPM trans did....I am a little concerned about the converter...It seems to be driving it through it down the track... 145-146 mph at 6700 on 28"/3.42s is way high.... Probably around 13-14% converter slip....So its definitely wasting some power through the converter.. I was curious as to if it was going to gain mph with my track/setup tune up or just slip the converter more. I'm gonna make a few more passes, hopefully in better weather before I decide if I need to pull the converter or not. I really was hoping for 150 mph traps with the street tune/air filter so.....I may have to do something... Its definitely not showing any HP like this... The scale was down but my best guess is its around 3675-3700lbs with me in it.... 145@3700lbs is only about 750-800rwhp or so.... So its definitely off somewhere.

Now here is the in-car vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGMb...ature=youtu.be

I have a buddy that shot an outside vid, hopefully I can get it this week..

Definitely has more in it, just gonna have to work some kinks out.. I noticed in the logs my voltage drops to 12.5v through the entire pass so the alternator/flip drive belt is slipping.... This is affecting the meth pressure and my IATs were climbing to 115* at the end... So I have to figure that out.... AFR was still in the 10.5-10.7 range, it could stand to be leaned out a bit but, I'll do that last after everything else is worked out.

With a converter swap, track tune/setup and good weather, I could see some 9.00-9.teens, hopefully at 150 mph..... Maybe I can get it during the track rental in March...

Thanks to Bret and Albert for all of the help/tips as I have continued to move forward with this turd from its inception. Also thanks to JDS99 for building me a killer rear end....

That's a great couple of passes for first time out on the new combo, less than ideal track conditions and a bit of los on the flip drive. Get a couple kinks worked out and catch some good conditions and low nines are around the corner!

Congrats,

PC

That's great Alan!

I have zero doubt that if we get some good fuel and dial that thing in at the track with the right converter that you'll be in the 8's with this car.

That's awesome given the conditions. I think that mph at such a heavy weight shows more like 825rwho or so. Iat sound just find to me too. Keep at it. You'll go 8a if you can keep it together.

Dude, badass. It's nice when things work out. Please don't make it a track car, come riding with us sometimes. Cruise on the 23rd.

Thanks everyone... I'm gonna continue dialing it in....I'm not in a big hurry to pull the trans just to do a restall on the converter...I'll probably run it as is, until something breaks and I HAVE to pull it apart.

Steve, don't worry man, this is 98% street car... That's why its so freakin heavy, has a baby cam and full amenities..

Matter in fact, I'm about to take it today to a certified weigh station and see what this pig weighs... I'm guessing 3700lbs with 1/4 tank, me in it.. (I'm 180lbs).

Hey Chris, have you tested your trap speed with locked vs unlocked converter? I'm thinking there is 3-4 mph in locking the converter... Mine is a single disk so I can't lock it..

Congrats, Alan. Really glad that car is finally coming together for you!

First trip out on the new setup, and run a 9.3 on a 1.3 in street trim

Guys, you should know there was so much mist in the air he was using the wipers on the back side and all the numbers were washed off after the first pass.

Can't wait to see you dip into the 8's. Enjoy the car!

Yes I gained 4mph by forcing lockup about 120mph. Went 146 unlocked vs 150 locked, that was just for curiosity sake. Wish mine would 60' like that damn. Maybe we should trade stalls.

fwiw, I logged 146mph at 6800 on 27"/3.42s, and 146mph was 6200 locked up

Congrats Alan. You dropped the typical 0.5 seconds when converting from manual to auto. Everyone that I see that makes the swap always improves by at least half a second on their first outing. After that it's just a matter of dialing everything in.

Did you log your boost? Was it normal or slightly lower? Also, you mentioned the amount of moisture in the air. My car has always hazed the tires after the 1/8th mile when there is that much moisture in the air. If the tires are slipping, you won't be putting all the power down and won't hit the higher mph. You picked up 29 on the back half and many times you will see 35 mph which would give you the 150 mph trap.
