I would like to legaly drive 180 mph somewhere in the US. Obviously, it will have to be on a track or a closed highway, but I have yet to find that place. Who's done this and where? Non modded Grand sport.
And no, I do not wish to drop $25,000 to rent Daytona for a day LOL

I know some roads in western Nevada that I've had my Hayabusa on but you want legal? Not that there's any law enforcement out there but it must at least be a misdemeanor......

You could run the Mojave Magnum Mile (1.5 mi) in CA legally, but it's doubtful you'll be able to hit 180 in a stock GS. For sure you won't hit 180 at a mile event.

Salt Lake City UT...http://www.saltflats.com/
You can go run BBORR or SSCC although not at 180, but it will let you run it at high speed for a long distance, which IMO is much more fun than short blasts for a mile or so. None of the venues discussed so far are anywhere near where you live.
Edit: I've had mine up to almost 170 - legally - and I have six point harnesses, helmet and HANs device, and other safety gear. There's no way on earth I'd go 180 without that kind of stuff, and without carefully inspecting your tires and overinflating them. A tire failure at that speed will most likely end up with you seriously injured or dead.

Bonnville salt flats or some other sanctioned event around the country, and of course you need safety equipment.
Any other way is illegal, and that is what you want to do?
IMO going 180 mph. on a public road is a death wish.
Hey I'm no saint,I bumped 138 for a second or two on rt.18 along Lake Ontario, one time.

Not sure what your driving experience is, but events like the Silver State Classic allow for some high speed runs (if it is still being held).

There are different location throughout the country that hold these type of speed events. I however doubt that a stock GS will run 180 mph plus the organizers will require you to have specific safety equipment.

Back in the day guys would run low use ex-military runways . 7 - 10K ft long . You need a small team to get onboard with security if any .Listen for radio traffic , have a flag / light man at the slow down point . You need a few warm up passes .

Going fast in a Corvette safely is not simply a matter of finding a legal venue. If you're going 120+ and were to suddenly turn the wheel a bit, accidentally or otherwise, it could spell disaster.
Attend an HPDE event or two through a local club at a racetrack before you attempt to take on your GSs top speed.
Lacking that, attend a Test'N'Tune at your closest drag strip. You won't attend top speed, but you will know what it takes to launch your 'Vette and go fast.
Once you get a few events under your belt, then you may be ready to test the limits of your vehicle.
