Z28 Ring Time of 7:37 - What does that mean for C7?
Just saw the video of the Z28 doing the N-ring in 7:37, with some rain in places. A couple exciting moments, but mostly a pretty clean lap. I know there were photos/videos of the C7 and Z28 at the track together, so there must also be a time for the C7 waiting for the right moment to be released.
Now that we know the Z28 time, do you think the C7 will be faster or slower?

As crazy as it sounds I put my money on the Z28. It's a focused track car if you look at the specs much like the Z06 in the Vette lineup. Will Chevy run it faster than the C7 who knows but can it run faster than a C7 around the Ring; I bet it can.
The Z28 has 305 R compound tires all around, tons of aero like the C7, more hp from the LS7 and carbon ceramic brakes. Not taking anything away from the C7 but the Z28 is a beast and would most likely be better compared to the Z06 version of the C7 not just a Z51 C7 but we'll have to wait and see.
I'm not a Camaro fan but the Z28 is damn impressive.

The Z28 has more weight, a higher center of gravity and more drag. Saying it is a "focused track car, therefore it should be faster" is just silly.

This means under 7:30 and maybe even mid 7:20s for the C7. GM indicated up to six seconds could be taken off according to their testing telemetry. The rain on the last portion of the run easily could have added 6 seconds. That would have put the Camaro at the low 7:30s. Corvette will definitely be in the mid to upper 7:20s.

Vettes can cut up the track better then that!

Since you're probably not a professional driver, you shouldn't push your 505-hp 7.0-liter V8-equipped as hard as Adam Dean did in the above video -- especially not when roads are wet. But at least you'll have something to hold over the heads of every Audi R8 V10 driver who dares to show up at your local show-and-shine.

(Beats the 911S without AWD, CC brakes, +++, $$$, and in the rain, dramatizing!) Where is my Z52!

Mark my words c7 is definitely faster than the z51. Power under the curve is close to the ls7, the c7 weighs less than z51 and has the MR shocks and ediff. I'm saying it's in the mid 7:20s.

The Z/28 will be faster at almost all tracks than the C7 Z51. But I think the C7 team will get the clean shot at the Nurburgring good weather conditions and end up with a faster time. The Camaro driver was sideways for a good potion of that lap. He was fighting for grip at the front and rear constantly.
The Z/28 probably is in the low 7:30s-high 7:20's in good conditions.

Pretty sure you mean Z28, but I think it is going to be close with the edge going to the Z28. The reason I say this is based on the lap times of the ZL1 Camaro vs the Z51 C7. In GM's release info for the Z28 it claimed the Z28 was 3 sec a lap faster than the ZL1 but did not state at which track. The Ring time for the Z28 was ~4 sec faster than the ZL1 in not as good conditions. At VIR, with GM drivers, the C7 Z51 is only about 0.5 sec faster than the ZL1 and at Laguna Seca, with Pobst driving, the C7 Z51 was about 1 sec faster than the ZL1. All of this points to the Z28 potentially being quicker than the C7. If the C7 does turn in a quicker Ring time it will most likey be due to being able to run it better conditions.

While I agree Z28 should be quciker than the C7, I don't see that much of a gain due to weather. The line was dry and it did not start to rain until the end of the run, I could see a ~3 sec or so improvement.
